  • Luxury bell-tent glamping in a secluded Northumberland hay meadow
  • A 30-minute drive to Alnwick Castle, and 15 minutes to Blyth beach
  • Outdoor cooking, animals on site; close to a farm shop, café and pub
Hidden away in a three-acre meadow on a family smallholding, The Meadow’s glamping tent is surrounded by fields and woodland. What a cute little spot – and you’ll be all alone too. Whether you’re after a relaxing family hol or a romantic mini break, here you’ve got a tempting blend of countryside seclusion and easy access to beaches, historic towns and Northumberland National Park. On-site parking is 300 metres from the pitch, and when you arrive, you’ll see horses, chickens, ducks and pigs. A camping trolley is available to transport your belongings, so there’s no lugging of heavy gear across fields. Your (off-grid) new home is a bell tent, prettily decked out with fairy lights and bunting, equipped with a comfortable double bed and a sofa bed doubling as daytime seating (an extra camp bed is available on request). Luxurious bed linen is provided for the double bed, but please supply your own if using the others. Cooking can be done al fresco on a wood-burning stove or in a wooden hut with simple amenities. Picnic tables and benches are provided along with tea- and coffee-making facilities and a pre-chilled cool box to keep your stuff fresh. A chemical loo and washbasin are tucked into the wooden utility block, and there’s a shower close to the tent – so no need to wander far in the middle of the night. You certainly won’t starve here if you don’t want to cook. It’s just a five-minute stroll to a farm shop and café serving up fresh local produce and quick bites to eat, and you can investigate pubs and takeaways in Stannington village (five minutes’ drive), or pick up supplies for the barbecue from supermarkets in Morpeth (10 minutes).

Daisy bell tent

Liked: A self contained farmers field which had fantastic views and felt very safe.
We were welcomed by the owner who was friendly and really helpful. We stayed 2 nights and was perfect for our 4 year old as he had the whole field to play games and could run around and help with the marshmallows.
The bed was super comfy and there was lots of room for 3.
We had everything we needed for a comfortable staying including fresh water and a gas stove with whistling kettle and pans to cook.

Disliked: There is nothing we disliked. We were aware of the trainline running along side the field but this only added to our little boys excitment.

Daisy bell tent

Liked: An amazing place to stay, will definitely go back and have been singing their praises. Stayed in the bell tent and it's comfy and gorgeous inside. Our daughter loved seeing the animals there and the owners were really friendly and helpful. Spent an awesome evening cooking on the outdoor stove and then toasting marshmallows, which were part of the welcome basket.
