Ah, glorious Northumberland. History-filled home of World Heritage Site Hadrian's Wall and many a castle including Hogwarts stand-in Alnwick and utterly fab Bamburgh. And of a coastline including the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne that we could traipse around for months/years, and its own national park, and lots and lots of tasty tasty food… And we rather like that the Scottish Borders are a quick hop up north too for day trips... If you're planning on doing all this (we certainly would), you'll need a niftily convenient Northumberland base. And if you drive along the M1 between Morpeth and Alnwick, you'll come to Bockenfield Country Park, a peaceful place belonging to the Wyldecrest Parks family and set on 25 acres of handsome parkland. The park has an on-site manager, remote control electric gates and CCTV so everything's safe and secure for all. A new playground was added in 2016.

Pick your flavour of landscape and sally forth to sample it by foot, bike or car… you could venture coastwards first, for the Farne Islands, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, seal spotting and birdwatching… or cruise around the national park to spot many a species among its varied wildlife. History? Many a stately and historic home or country house is in Northumberland, along with handsomely old churches and villages, and that Alnwick Castle we mentioned, the Hogswarty home built just after the Norman conquest. Gardens are plentiful too: have a wander around the Jekyll garden on Holy Island, the greeneries of Chillingham Castle, the ones at Kirkley Hall… If you're a golfer, you won't be teed off to hear an 18-hole championship golf course is less than 500 metres from Bockenfield Country Park – and foodies won't be teed off at the tasty treats on its restaurant menu either.
