  • Relaxed family-run site on a farm in the Yorkshire Dales
  • A 15-minute drive from Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss
  • Well-spaced hardstanding pitches with a large dog exercise area
Ash Keys Caravan Park is a family-friendly site in a quiet corner of a family-run 165-acre farm. This peaceful spot is at the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, half a mile from the teeny hamlet of Eshton and five minutes’ drive from more extensive amenities (pubs, takeaways and small supermarkets) in Gargrave. This is a most handy spot to settle in for outdoor activities: you can take walks or bike rides directly from the park, join nearby major trails like the Pennine Way (three quarters of a mile from the park), Way of the Roses and National Cycle Network Route 68. The fab attractions around Malham (Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar) are about a 15-minute drive away. The well-kept pitches here all have electricity, water hookups and grey waste drains. The facilities block houses toilets and showers, a washing-up area and an information hub, and there are also recycling facilities and an Elsan point close by. Dogs are welcome on site and have their own dedicated exercise area where they can have a good run about. Barbecues are also permitted, and perhaps at their finest when graced with good food from one of the three excellent farm shops within a 10-minute drive.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely peaceful site. Flat fully serviced pitches. Choice of pitch when you arrive. Great location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Extremely dog friendly with an enclosed dog field and a dog wash shed with shampoo and hairdryer. Toilet/shower block was immaculate. TV aerials provided for each pitch (although we didn't use this). 4g WiFi provided but again we didn't use this. Short drive to supermarkets in Skipton.

Disliked Nothing.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Well kept grounds, well set out large pitches with ALL the facilities on the pitch I had. Beautiful walks in amazing scenery right from the site. The dog field is a particular incentive as my dogs could go off lead in there and it contained my escape artist Pointer. Lovely pot wash area, nice and clean. Didn't use the ladies as I'm self contained so can't comment on those but my friend used the gents and said they were great. Stargazing was 10/10!

Disliked Nothing directly to do with the site, just had one annoying neighbour with a LWB and awning to match it's size with a massive TV in it lit up like a stage. Can't have a firepit because of dark skies zone etc but that was way worse! Some people are so ignorant of others!

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Everything... fantastic little site. All very clean and well laid out.
The wash room facilities were exceptional...very clean and showers were amazing.( as previously mentioned a chair or shelf would be useful)
Loved being able to chose our own pitch, which was fully serviced,if a little uneven, but nothing drastic.
Information shed was very thoughtful and provided DVDs and games, books to borrow.

Disliked Limited phone signal, but nothing the site owners can really remedy.

Liked Modern facilities, good sized pitches, better price than other similar campsites, nice to have a dog field on site.

Disliked Self-service check-in - although I understand the convenience, I usually prefer to interact with someone when checking in.

Local attractions

If you’re not planning lengthy rambles on the long-distance paths, set forth for some of the local highlights instead. Get going in Gargrave (five minutes’ drive) with a waterside walk by the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, then see cascades in action at Linton Falls (20 minutes). Make time for Malham too: a 15-minute drive gets you over to this fab village and its trio of top sights (Malham Cove, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar). After that, take an uphill challenge on the mountain paths of Pen-y-Ghent (35 minutes) or head underground to see what’s in store at Ingleborough Cave (40 minutes). Other ways to get about? Perhaps with a day of horse riding from Kilnsey or a rather more laidback trip on the Settle-Carlisle Railway – both are about 20 minutes’ drive away. And if you’ve got tiddlers who’d benefit from staying in one place for a while, there’s plenty to keep them amused among the animals, tractor tours and play areas of Hesketh Farm Park (20 minutes).
