  • Dog-friendly wildlife haven in the North Yorkshire countryside
  • Under 10 minutes' drive to the Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast paths
  • Logs available for firepits; fresh eggs and local honey sold on site
Make way for wild camping on a wildlife haven… with views over the Cleveland Hills, Captain Cook's Monument and Roseberry Topping, Sexhow Park Farm is a dog-friendly site five minutes’ drive from the edge of the North York Moors, well situated for walking, cycling or simply relaxing surrounded by the North Yorkshire countryside. Things are rather peaceful here with meadows, wildflowers and trees… and you might wake to a splendid dawn chorus, courtesy of the resident wild birds. There are plenty of relaxed spots, from the woodlands (perhaps hang up a hammock) to the spacious pitches (please be aware that the ground may be uneven in places, and there's only limited phone reception). Guests are also asked to keep noise to a minimum so as to not disturb wild or domesticated animals on the farm. To keep things even more peaceful, the car park is 250 metres away from the pitches (there are wheelbarrows to help you shift your belongings if you need them, but please be aware that it's a bit of a steep hill so you'll need sensible footwear – and it's worth being aware that this isn't for everyone). The site sells fresh eggs from free-range chickens and local honey, but there's also a small food shop, community café and garage, and several pubs in the local village under 25 minutes’ walk away. With dark skies at night and little light pollution, firepits and barbecues (supervised by the site) are a nice way to unwind. Handily, the site has stones available and logs for sale. Other facilities on the site include a tap for drinking water, flushing toilets with sinks and while there’s no shower, you can always opt for a dip in the beck. Happily, dogs are allowed on site, as long as the site is aware. Due to other resident livestock and dogs, they must be kept on a lead and must be up-to-date on vaccines (and not listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act) to ensure that every pup is safe.
