Lois E.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Quiet site, fairly flat, close to towns for shopping/outings. Affordable.

Disliked New restrictions regarding car parking away from pitch seemed unnecessary given the size of the site.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback Lois. Parking away from your pitch was trialled to enable a quieter atmosphere for our guests and neighbours and reduce noise at night time from people going into their cars unnecessarily.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very remote and kept up to.
Toilets clean as a whistle.
Large pitches.
Great walks nearby.

Disliked No music rule.
No sink to wash things.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Glad you enjoyed your stay!

No music must be adhered to without exception because we are a 'peaceful site'; noise is an annoyance for everyone and unnecessarily created by music. The pub has easy listening and various establishments in Skipton host live music nights.

Although we are in the village we are 'off grid'. We ask that you wash up a short distance away at your pitch and put the grey water into the long grass at the field edge.

Thank you for coming and see you again soon!

Local attractions

You’re bound to end up in Skipton (10 minutes’ drive) at some point. The “Gateway to The Dales” is famous for its medieval castle, its sprawling street market and independent shops. You can get a pint of Yorkshire ale in one of the many, many pubs – or how about a trip down the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on a narrow boat? Scenic Wharfedale is also on hand; Grassington (10 minutes) is better known these days as Darrowby in “All Creatures Great and Small”, and has a lively centre with lots of crafty-type shops and more pubs. Gorgeous Dales villages like Burnsall (10 minutes) and Appletreewick (15 minutes) are the starting points for walks along the Wharfe river, while Bolton Abbey (20 minutes) has plenty of scenic strolls among its handsome ruins. Further afield, a host of other adventures await. Literary fans can head for Haworth (40 minutes) for a tour of the rectory where the talented Brontë family lived – and for big city attractions, you can catch a train from Skipton station (15 minutes) into Leeds (an hour) or Bradford (50 minutes).
