  • A small, safe and secure site in N Yorkshire
  • Perfect for families and groups of friends who camp together
  • Great for cyclists following the C2C/Trans Pennine Trail
You may be heading to North Yorkshire to tour market towns and historic cities or to get down to walking, cycling or wildlife spotting around its trails. No matter what you’re plotting to do, Dove Cote Lodge is a small, safe and secure base 10 minutes’ drive away from Selby, half an hour from York and a 15-minute walk away from Cliffe, where you can pick up the Trans Pennine Trail. There’s a real intimate feel here, as there’s a large barbecue area and a central firepit that’s shared between the guests, making the site particularly suited to families and groups of friends. Those of you who are cycling or walking along the Trans Pennine Trail may also find this site a handy rest stop, as it’s so close by. Other shared facilities on site include a sheltered dishwashing area and an amenities block with toilets and showers - so the basics are nicely covered. For extra convenience, there’s a communal fridge so that you may keep your drinks chilled or food fresh ready for the next stop on your itinerary. There’s a good array of public footpaths and walks close by this site too, as well as a village shop, pub and butchers around half an hour’s walk away, so you’ll be able to get your hands on snacks, essentials and dishier meals quite easily to power you around the trails.

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked Brilliant campsite. Really small and perfectly formed. Massive pitches with plenty of room to play but also enough distance between them for it to feel really private. The toilets and showers were always immaculately clean and the washing up area was well appointed. We'll definitely be looking to stay again and will also potentially do the private hire with some other friends with kids. The toy box on site is a lovely touch too, especially as there isn't a play ground so kids still had something different to do.

Also we'd read that it was hard to find buy Google maps took us straight to the gate.

Disliked Nothing to not like unless you're anticipating a party site with a pub and pool!

Will be visiting this site again soon

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked Lovely secluded campsite, only five pitches spread out across a large field so plenty of space. Near a busy road, but you don’t really notice it on site.

Disliked Shower heads were fixed straight down, so if you didn’t want to wash your hair it was difficult to use.

Absolute gem

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked What an absolute gem of a place. We’ve never stayed anywhere with such big pitches. Toilets and shower were immaculate. Location perfect for exploring the area. Village shop 10 min walk (we didn’t get to try the pub which is by the shop). The location plans sent to us were spot on and we found it first time.
What 3 words would be ideal too.
Just be aware that there is road noise, mainly due to the road surface and the train is nearby. But it was completely tranquil compared to where we live!
Can’t wait to return, loved it.

Disliked Nothing - just an FYI really, you need transport or a taxi to get anywhere. We were in a camper van and usually like to use public transport to save the hassle of detaching the awning.
The toilets/shower have a sensor for the lighting, if the lights go off when you’re in the shower, just open the cubicle door (I continued in the dark the first time).
Just a suggestion to owners, a little shelf at the side of the shower cubicle would be great for putting spectacles on.

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked Lovely, quiet campsite. Spacious pitches, to allow personal space. Little toy box with outdoor games for the kids. Very convenient for visiting Selby town. Toilets were clean, and great washing up area.

Disliked Signage was hard to see to find the site. Showers weren’t the best with having to keep pressing the pressure button - it took a few times to get the hot water going! Pitches were quiet uneven and bumpy

Really enjoyed my stay and will definitely book this site again

Power optional grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked So we had a pleasure to stay at this campsite over the bank weekend.
Let's start from the beginning- direction and location - brilliant we have received an email from the owners prior our arrival so we knew what to look out for on the road to find the place (not that it was hard- ir wasnt at all)
The area - was clean and well looked after, there were 3 other families at the campsite. The maximum I believe is 5 which is great. The area we have been allocated was plenty for us and we had no neighbours next to us either.
York was only 25 minutes drive and lidl is around 10- 15 mins drive if you need anything or forgot soemthing to pack. Go outdoors are also close by. We really liked the place.i think the only downside was for me personally as my boys couldn't hear a thing was that I could hear cars driving during the night as the campsite is close to the road.

The facilities were clean and shower was fine.
Rubbish & recycling bins provided close buy too and there were options to purchase logs / marshmallows if you wished to do so.

Absolutely everything!! What a little gem of a site. So much was…
