Camping field looking over cliffs to the north sea
Spectacular sunsets
Campfire

  • Pop-up North Yorkshire site with spectacular views to Scarborough
  • On the Cleveland Way National Trail; Cayton Bay five minutes’ drive
  • Off-grid with all pitches facing the sea; farm shop 15 minutes’ walk
The clue’s in the name at Scarborough Sea View Camping, a clifftop retreat on the North Yorkshire coast. All the pitches face the coast, so you will indeed have spectacular views over the sea, in this case the North Sea to Scarborough (15 minutes’ drive), giving you a front-row seat on one of England’s most spectacular coastlines. Here you can wake to vibrant sunrises and cosy up on clear evenings to watch sunsets in the west. And there’s plenty more going for this peaceful site as well: walkers will perk up on hearing that it’s right on the Cleveland Way National Trail, surfers can catch waves at popular Cayton Bay (five minutes’ drive), and families can head for Go Ape or scenic biking trails in Dalby Forest (40 minutes). There’s also a farm shop 15 minutes’ walk away where you can get a decent coffee and homemade food. There’s plenty of room so you’re free to pitch up where you wish. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and barbecues or firepits are allowed as long as they’re raised off the ground to protect the grass. A couple of words of caution though: Scarborough Sea View Camping is exposed. It can get very windy at times, so take care when erecting tents and ensure everything is well secured. Facilities are simple: there are chemical toilets and a water supply (although this comes directly from the mains, the site owners recommend that, for your safety, you use bottled water for drinking) – note that there are no showers on site. The access road is alongside a grass field, so please ensure that your vehicle is suitable for the terrain.

What customers say

This campsite boasts spectacular ocean views & a peaceful, spacious setting, with easy access to Cayton Bay beach. Great location for exploring, with good value for solo travelers. However, limited portaloos & no showers were common concerns. Some noted windiness & no on-site drinkable water. Many want to return.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked When we booked we wasn't sure what to expect, it said on a cliff but we didn't really think it would of been! When we drove onto the field we were amazed! We chose a great spot to tent up, the views are epic its just what we had hoped for. It was my 50th birthday and we had champagne under the stars. Brilliant. The toilets were very clean another plus. We loved that there was no light pollution and the fact it was as close to wild camping as you get. Pitches are big enough for what is needed plus the car. Massive thumbs up we will be back.

Disliked Only really the wind ha but thats not something that can be helped when storms are about! Really can't complain

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Amazing views . Clean facilities. Plenty of space and great location .not too close to the busy seaside towns so you can enjoy the peace and quiet but close enough to be able to enjoy the best of both worlds 🙂

Disliked Path to the site is very bumpy but its a field and is to be expected
And wind can be very strong no fault of the sites just a little warning 🤣

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great place for an epic view. The camp is basic as they tell you but if you want tranquility and a place to just reset this is the place for you. Easy process, affordable and super easy check in.

Disliked The flies but it is a field and you are warned. Not about the site but just wish people would watch their kids at the loos or at least teach them how to flush lol

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Amazing views with easy access to the Cleveland way.
Easily accessible with clear instructions in a welcome message.
Brilliant hosts whom I called upon their assistance, which was promptly and efficiently dealt with, even though they are not on site.
I'll be back next year and hopefully get the same weather 🌞 ☀️
Thanks for a brilliant stay 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Disliked Even though the pitches are clearly staked out (park central to 2 pegs) we returned from walking to find someone setting a tent up less than a few metres away, this was the only issue we had with our stay.
The site contacts quickly resolved this in a professional and friendly manner.

May I suggest placing pitch numbers between each set of maker stakes, even though there is no reserved pitches it would be easier to identify which location each camper has chosen it would define the pitches better and give the owners a clearer idea of where everyone is pitched up and help eliminate 2 parties being in one pitch.
Otherwise its a stunning spot with amazing views 👌 😍 👏 🙌 ✨️
