Debussy Dome

General

  • Hillside glamping in geodesic domes at the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds
  • A 20-minute drive from Pocklington and 35 minutes from York
  • Café on site; meals and home produced meat for sale; free farm tours

Seeking a sweet spot for a glamping hol right by the Yorkshire Wolds? Then it might be high time to scale The Private Hill and settle into a geodesic dome... with far-reaching views across 60 miles of the Vale of York.

The lush surrounds of this award-winning farmstay a 20-minute drive from Pocklington give it a peaceful atmosphere: spend your days here gazing out across green fields home to the homebred pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle that lend their names to the glamping units. These domes come with all the amenities needed for a comfy stay including real beds, soft sheets and duvets, and a choice of pillows.

As night falls, watch the sunset over the vale with a tipple from the fully stocked minibar or retreat to your dome and snuggle beside the woodburning stove with a meal made in the kitchenette. In the morning, brew up a Nespresso coffee using your machine while listening to music on the Sonos speaker... all sounds very blissful indeed...

You could also sip a cuppa while reading one of the daily newspapers laid out at Jane's Dome, the on-site café, which serves North Yorkshire breakfasts and afternoon cream teas as well as other meals. A small shop stocks local snacks and ingredients, and you can also pick up home produced Aberdeen Angus steaks and other meats to chargrill on the communal barbecue. Frozen meals are available for fuss-free feeding too (and are easily warmed up on the Miele microwave in your unit).

For dinners out, set off on a scenic stroll through the countryside towards local pubs... or cadge a lift there and back with one of the staff members.
