  • Hillside glamping in geodesic domes at the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds
  • A 20-minute drive from Pocklington and 35 minutes from York
  • Café on site with cream teas and licensed bar; free farm tours
Seeking a sweet spot for a glamping break right by the Yorkshire Wolds? Then it might be high time to scale The Private Hill and settle into a geodesic dome… with far-reaching views across the Vale of York. The lush surrounds of this award-winning farmstay a 20-minute drive from Pocklington give it a peaceful atmosphere: spend your days here gazing out across green fields home to the homebred pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle that lend their names to the glamping units. These domes come with all the amenities needed for a comfy stay including real beds, soft sheets and duvets, and a choice of pillows. Start your stay with a gentle games of croquet, boules or quoits out on the lawn – then, as night falls, watch the sunset over the vale with a tipple from the fully stocked minibar or retreat to your dome and snuggle beside the woodburning stove with a meal made in the kitchenette. In the morning, brew up a Nespresso coffee using your machine while listening to music on the Sonos speaker… all sounds very blissful indeed… You could also stop by at Jane's Dome, the on-site café, which serves North Yorkshire afternoon cream teas by appointment and other meals on occasion. A small shop stocks local snacks and ingredients. For dinners out, set off on a scenic stroll through the countryside towards local pubs… or cadge a lift there and back with one of the staff members.
