Welcoming hosts. Exceptionally clean. Plenty of space to play. Flat.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Exceptional site which I would have no hesitation staying at again. Very lovely hosts with immaculate facilities. I liked that it was a small site tucked away. Wife even managed to glimpse some deer in an adjoining field.
Absolutely loads of space in the field to play games. Fridge, kettle and microwave available to use under cover. This made the morning cuppa a bit quicker and the microwave was a handy extra. Electric to charge devices such as phone etc is available in a lockable cupboard if needed.
It's back to basics with no play park or on site shop but we knew that booking and shops are close by (less than 10 minute drive to a sizeable tesco or Sainsbury and smaller local shops are closer). If you want a clean quiet site as a base and ample place for ball games this is ideal.
Easy access to York with Park and Ride or the bus stops just at the end of the street with a bus to York. We used Park and ride as it was quicker.
Probably the best camp site we have stayed at.
Disliked There is nothing to dislike.

Great stay to get away from day to day life.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Great set up, it was full, but not cramped. The owners do a great job of keeping everyone spaced out around the edges and keeping the middle free. The owners were available when needed, bit not over powering (and were lovely welcoming people). The facilities were always clean and well stocked with soap and loo roll. Charging port was available free of charge (£5 deposit that u get back when u give the locker key back). We had a great stay and would not hesitate to go back!

Fabulous site , clean and well cared for.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Lovely level field. Toilets and showers emaculate. Lovely owners, friendly and helpful but gave campers space to enjoy.
Plenty of light to use the facilities during the night. Other facilities included charging points and fridge and freezer. We had a lovely restful couple of nights. Great site.
Disliked We were advised when we arrived that a large family/group of friends were xamping at the top and were having a sports day on the Saturday afternoon. Although they weren't too loud the ball hit one of our cars and the shouts caused the dogs to bark. Following this there were some shouting during the night and early morning.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked A beautiful and peaceful site. Paul, Ruth and the girls came to see us to check everything was ok. Very friendly and helpful.
A lovely flat pitch, the facilities were amazing. Good walks nearby and a quaint English pub nearby. Fire pits and wood available at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend this site.

Brilliant and will be back!
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Loved the friendly people that came to check if we needed anything morning and night, the facilities, the placement of pitches. Grass was lovely and well kept. We were given a fire mat for the fire pit which was lovely.

Nice site, clean facilities
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Nice site, great welcome. Toilets and showers spotlessly clean, and good hot water in the showers.
We cycled in and the host kindly lent us a table and chairs, beats being slumped in a backpacking tent.
Phone charging facility spot on and just what we needed after a day on the road.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked The well kept camping field, well maintained toilets and showers and the very friendly owner and his family (including Buddy the rabbit). hire of a firepit and wood was a bonus.
It was nice to be shown all of the facilities by the owner Paul and nothing was a bother.
The tree swing and Buddy kept my grand daughter occupied for quite some time. Plenty of room to play games in the centre of the field.
Will definately return to explore further afield.
