  • Small, peaceful family-run site on a farm on the outskirts of Hedon
  • A 15-minute drive from Hull and half an hour from Beverley
  • Animals to meet and fresh eggs for sale; pub two minutes' walk
Peaceful off-grid camping but with all amenities close by – it’s a great mix that Suzie, Howard and the family have got going on at Little Haven Farm. This chilled-out East Yorkshire spot has all the vibes of a remote rural site while actually being on the edge of the historic market town of Hedon and within walking distance of all its shops and amenities. Pitches here can certainly be described as quiet, but not entirely silent – and that’s because you may catch a bit of noise from the farm’s animals. Pigs, goats and ducks all live here, along with a couple of rather special residents: Sven and Klaus the reindeer. There’s a flock of free-range chickens as well, so breakfasts of fresh eggs should be on the cards too. The site is primarily a farm and rescue centre working as a petting farm and education centre. It’s also got dog exercise and agility areas, so if you’re bringing a dog along you may like to see what new skills they can master (there’s plenty of space for a run about if they’re not the slaloming type). Little Haven is a relatively simple site, but there is access to facilities including electricity, water, toilets and showers (please note that there is a small charge for use of the latter). Off-ground barbecues are allowed but no firepits, thanks. The nearest pub is a mere two minutes’ walk away; venture a few minutes more for a play park and skate park or to get to the shops, takeaways, restaurants and pubs of the town centre.

VIP bell tent (hot tub)

Liked: The Bell Tent, the accessories that came with it, the hot tub was a huge hit! It was perfect! Local to some lovely eateries and we also had the pleasure of joining in with their own Easter egg hunt! There was just something about waking up in the morning with chickens outside that felt so peaceful!

Liked: We had a great stay at little haven farm. My girls who are 7 and my son who is 5 thought it was fantastic, they really enjoyed the animals. Getting to hold and feed them was fab. It's a really nice little camping spot and suzie and her family made us feel welcome. They were great with information on where to visit and places to eat. It's in a great location a short walk from the village wheres there's a few pubs and local shops for everything you need.

Liked: Owners were really friendly and very helpful. Gave great recommendations on shops/areas/takeaways. Great location, the main town area was a 5 minute walk away. The kids liked to go see the animals even though they are older! Second time visiting and it’s improved since the first time 2 years ago! Would def go back and stay again!

Disliked: Only 1 shower, however on my husbands visit 2 years ago the owners ran into trouble with planning permission through no fault of their own. And they didn’t have a shower then and my husband son and friends still enjoyed their stay as much as we did this time!

Liked: We had an amazing time here Monday - Friday with our 3 year old. Site is small with only 4-6 pitches but this was absolutely perfect as gave it a more home from home experience (despite being in a tent!). Suzie and her family who run the site and the petting farm right next to where you camp, are so lovely and friendly and nothing is too much for them. Always checked in with us daily to make sure everything was ok and they do an amazing job looking after the animals. Little one was over the moon to see all the animals every day and holding one of the rabbits and guinea pigs was the highlight of her trip 🤣 location is also perfect, come out the site and turn left, walk all the way down and follow the footpath beside the pub and it brings you out into a park with a separate skate park. Go right out the site and then left at the end of the road and follow it down to all the shops/takeaways etc. although the beaches aren’t that close, they are close enough and plenty different beaches to choose from. We went to Mappleton which was great for rock climbing, Hornsea which was more built up with a great arcades with an inflatable park inside! We also ventured further out to Thornwick Bay and Dunes Dyke - absolutely incredible views! We don’t often want to return to the same place as we like to travel around, but we would definitely return to Little Haven Farm. Thanks so much for a fab week!

Local attractions

A rural haven this site might be, but it’s also one that’s well placed for all sorts of days out. Perhaps surprisingly, city life is only about 15 minutes’ drive away in the shape of Hull – a great place for a day out eyeballing the marine residents of The Deep aquarium and taking a step back in time at the free Streetlife Museum, celebrating 200 years of transport history. For a little more local history, take a trip to Burton Constable Hall (20 minutes’ drive) to explore the 700-year-old mansion and its fascinating collections before a stroll around the Capability Brown-designed parkland. Other days out nearby might take you to Bugtopia Hornsea (half an hour) or over to Bridlington (40 minutes) for the beach and animal park. Closer to home, there’s a fishing lake five minutes away and it’s 10 minutes to a golf course. If it’s not outdoor weather, it’s handy to note there’s a leisure centre with pool five minutes’ drive away.
