  • Family-friendly farm site by river Derwent and Trans Pennine Trail
  • A five-minute drive to Howden; 40 minutes to York
  • Barbecues allowed; Italian restaurant a few minutes' walk away
Turn in for some downtime at Cricket Field Camping alongside the river Derwent. This peaceful East Yorkshire farm site rests on the Trans Pennine Trail, so you’ll be in a prime spot if cycling is your thing and still very well off if it’s not, as there are plenty more pursuits around, whether it’s a walk into the historic market town of Howden (five minutes’ drive) or a venture into the Viking centre of York, 40 minutes away. That’s not forgetting planning ahead for day trip to the coast, an hour’s drive away. There are handy toilets on site here, plus washing-up facilities to take care of any plates or pots and pans leftover from barbecues. On this site, you can sizzle your favourite foods with the pleasant countryside as your backdrop, then wander out for a lazy riverbank walk to see the day away. When you feel like your food taken care of, there’s an Italian restaurant within five minutes’ walk. Pick between eating in or take away a pizza with your favourite toppings to tuck into back on site. You can always keep a stash of snacks on hand too, as there are several shops (and some pretty characterful pubs, too) within 15 minutes’ drive in the market town of Selby.
