  • Quiet family site surrounded by the Teesdale countryside
  • In the Pennine Dales, 15 minutes' drive from Barnard Castle
  • Set in the grounds of a traditional farmhouse; bus stop just outside
Newton Lodge Campsite is in the pretty village of Mickleton, a small spot deep in the gorgeous Teesdale countryside. Whether you're all about getting your boots on and exploring the countryside or prefer to put your feet up, this small-scale site in the grounds of a traditional farmhouse could be the one for you. This low-key site caters for families and couples and operates a low-noise policy, especially after 9pm when quiet hours come into effect. The skies get very dark here at night, giving spectacular views over the starry sky on cloudless nights, while by day there are great vistas over the adjacent Pennine Dales to admire. There is a public bus stop directly outside the property with services running to and from Middleton and Barnard Castle, including the villages in between. This site has a facilities block with a shower, two toilets, a wash room and a washing-up area.

Liked: Clean campsite.
Good kitchen with a kettle and refrigerator. Ample ampunt of kitchen towels. Dribking water tap , outside kitchen.
Clean toilets. Free shower.
Self checkin - checkout.
Only 5 large pitches. With rope segregations. The ground was even.
Very calm and peaceful.
Friendly staff.
Tees railway walking path is right behind the campsite.
Accessible through main road of the village.
Campsite management is strict about no noise between 11-7
Lot of flowers behind the pitch. Makes it pretty.
If every pitch is booked , they will label and place a board , to avoid confusions.

Disliked: Electric point so far and used by someone else. Had to stay without electricity.

Same cost of a motor home who uses so much electricity and resources and a tent.

No wifi provided. But its already mentioned before . It would be just great to have a wifi.

Didn't find any washing options.

Liked: We loved the location, the hospitality and Extras provided by host(fridge freezer, kettle, hairdryer). The friendliness of the locals, walks and peaceful surroundings. My family and I booked all pitches so didn’t hav to worry about the grandchildren having fun, making a noise and disturbing other people.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike, the pitches were on a slight incline but you adapt to it.

Liked: Small site, owner was lovely. Always something to watch with the chickens freely roaming, very clean and a well thought out site as they had a fridge and a freezer for customers use.

Disliked: The next doors Cockerells and the farm vehicles up and down the road in the early hours, you soon get used to it though.
