  • Quiet Suffolk site in Eyke, 10 minutes' drive from Woodbridge
  • A 20-minute drive from the beaches at Aldeburgh and Thorpeness
  • Local village pub a mile away
Golfing, going to the beach, or maybe getting out for a forest walk… it’s all going on around Gralyn's Caravan Park, a quiet little Suffolk site just outside the village of Eyke and 10 minutes’ drive from Woodbridge. From here it’s an easy amble to the trails of Rendlesham Forest, a 20-minute drive to the splendid Suffolk coast beaches at Aldeburgh and Thorpeness, and a five-minute drive/15-minute bike ride to Sutton Hoo. Other top-notch activities can be had nearby too: there are two golf courses within a 10-minute drive, fishing lakes less than five minutes away and river boat trips around 25 minutes away. Plus, of course, that most excellent of rural activities: the pub trip, which can be had at the end of a mile-long half-hour walk. Back at base, there’s a warm welcome for all who’d like to come and stay here: the site has been set up to be accessible to less mobile guests, it’s got play areas for the smaller travellers and it’s happy to have dog companions along too.

Liked Great electric hook up, easy to find and welcoming staff. Nice quiet site and close to areas like Sutton Hoo.

Disliked Shower didn’t work in the back field so needed to walk to the front, not a big deal but might be worth putting an out of order sign on the door

Excellent site, great staff, spotlessly clean and relaxed atmosphere.

Liked Very friendly owner who did everything she could to make are stay as comfortable as possible. Had issues with our Campervan electrics and although we couldn’t get to the root of the problem we still had an enjoyable stay. Site is close to some fabulous locations. Would recommend walking from the campsite to Woodbridge along the estuary. There’s a great cafe/bar on a boat en route.

Liked Lovely quiet little place, Amy was very friendly and helpful as we’re new to touring. Small onsite shop and play area. Clean toilets (didn’t use showers though sure they would be clean too) will definitely recommend!

Local attractions

Keen to stretch your legs, perhaps with dog in tow? Get over to Rendlesham Forest (45 minutes’ walk/five minutes’ drive), where you can amble along a three-mile trail with info about the woods' intriguing past. For a further delve into history, walk the walls of sprawling Framlingham Castle (20 minutes' drive) or head to Sutton Hoo estate (five minutes), home to a seventh-century royal burial ground, an exhibition of ancient finds and a full-sized Anglo-Saxon ship sculpture. Swing by in summer and you’ll often find history themed goings-on in progress around the estate or in the open-air theatre. Also very much worth a visit are the beaches of the Suffolk coast: it’ll take around 20 minutes to drive to arty Aldeburgh, or 25 minutes to Thorpeness to hire boats to paddle around the Peter Pan-themed lake.
