Liked: Wild nature of site - very informal and options to find your own space in the forest or more open fields. Facilities are pretty basic, but that is as described so no issue with that. Plenty of space between pitches when we were there.
Disliked: The road past the site is pretty busy even at night so there was quite a bit of road noise. May be better if you are in the forest as we were in open fields. The signage on arrival wasn’t brilliant to show you where to go although the owner / host was very helpful when we rang him.

Primitive forest floor tent or trailer tent campsite (wild)
Liked: The peacefulness & the beautiful surroundings. Being in the forest is truly a soul-fuelling experience, calming the mind & taking you away from the daily hustle & bustle.
Disliked: The portaloo toilets - fabulous addition to support toilet needs to what is essentially wild camping, but good grief......other campers could do with being (even slightly) respectful - clean up afterwards & be thoughtful of others who'll be using them.

From the manager: Hi! Firstly i want to apogose for the loos. We were meant to have a unit built this year for loos and showers but that will be 2025 now. The loos are in the sun constantly which contribute to the smelliest smells. I personally cant stand portaloos and the company providing them have failed us massively. In my 3 years being here ive never been so embarrassed. This weekend especially has given me complaints. They are cleaned regularly. And usually emptied once a week. But like i say; they were not. Huge huge sorry from me.
Thankyou for your feedback though and glad you enjoyed your stay
Joanne

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked: I hiked here along the Fynn Valley Walk and through Woodbridge so arrived on foot, if you plan to do the same then be warned that after Melton station there is only a footpath as far as Sutton Hoo and from there you are walking along a busy road with only a tiny grass verge - once you make it part way down Heath Road you can follow a trail through the woodland. The owner Joanne was kind enough to warn me about this.
The site is open pitch so you can pick your favourite spot and set up. Joanne was very friendly, helpful and responsive via phone. Facilities on site are minimal but with water and toilets you have everything you need and it really made the site have a wilder feel which I liked. The ground is solid but soft enough that I could push my pegs in with my boot which is exactly what I was hoping for as I didn't bring a mallet in my already very heavy backpack!
BBQs and open fires are not permitted in the woodland so I camped in the grassy area for this reason, however in hindsight, after walking through the woodland in the evening, I wish that I had pitched in the woodland and just walked out of the woodland with my mini bbq to cook as it was so beautiful and peaceful in the wooded area.
Disliked: In the evening there was a lot of noise from someone riding around on a motorised vehicle - not sure what it was as I was in my tent but sounded like some kind of dirt bike. There were some other campers who were quite noisy and a dog off lead who was wandering quite far and out of sight of it's owner - these are not criticisms of the campsite in any way and can't really be helped, but it did take away from the rest of the experience somewhat.
I have seen complaints in other reviews about loud music from a neighbouring property, I did not experience this at all.

From the manager: Hi Annabelle. Glad you liked Holistic Woods Campsite & hope to see you return.
So very sorry for the motorbikes. We have a very small community down the bottom with some young teenagers; has come to my attention a couple times this month so its being firmly dealt with.
Joanne

Primitive forest floor travel trailer campsite (wild)
Liked: From the moment we arrived & meet Joanne
I knew we would be in good hands .
The guided tour around the campsite & telling us a good spot & everything we needed to know from good walks , water point, toilets &
pubs, shops .the ground is so level I think this is the only time we didn’t use the ramps when camping. I am a litter picker & didn’t have to pick up one bit of litter it’s so clean .
We parked in wild camping, BBQs & fires are not allowed which is understandable & not a good idea in the woods .but you can walk to the other campsite (50 metres)away & have your BBQ There. The space from each pitch was ample & didn’t feel over crowded so you can have a few friends camp with you .i loved all the trees just being in the middle of the woods was so invigorating & peaceful the sun coming through the forest was amazing.
There is a road near the site but it’s not a busy one & you could hardly hear the cars from the site.
The walks around the site are amazing & rendlesham Forest is on your doorstep, definitely making up your steps walking around the forest
The campsite is huge & lots of space for football or rounders & lots of space for outdoor fun .
This beautiful campsite is definitely one for being close to nature & we will definitely be returning very soon we even had WiFi . I am delighted we have found this little gem .
Disliked: Not one dislike & I am one for my opinion on anything.
I will ask before I camp here again if I can bring carrots for the little horses

Liked: Absolutely beautiful back to basics camping, very quiet, nice walks and you just pick a spot where you want to camp. Jo was helpful and told you everything you need to know.
Disliked: Not enough portaloos and only one tap for water but it wasn’t far to get.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked: Lovely small wood and grass area, plenty of room to set up alone, probably about 10 family’s when we arrived split between woods and grass area but all far enough away to be peaceful. Nothing fancy but that’s what we wanted just the three of us in two tents having fun. Near a road but little noise. Lovely walks just over the fence or coast 15 mins away. Had a fire off the ground for atmosphere.
Slightly hard to find so make sure you know before you go it’s tucked down a track and easy to miss. Toilets ok .. overall it’s a wild camp but with toilets which we needed for kids. Back to nature but the east way.
Lovely forests and coast just a few minutes away.
Disliked: All good can’t really think of anything a slightly more obvious sign on road but sites lovely.
If anything be nice of woods was just for tents no camper vans but not an issue.
