Secure dog-walking field for a fee

  • Dog-friendly meadow with country views on a family-run working farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Sudbury market town; 35 minutes to Dedham Vale
  • Eggs available to buy on site; secure dog-walking field for a fee
Making plans to get away to the countryside? The country views are splendid at Clarks Farm Camping. The well-maintained six-acre grass meadow has views over the Suffolk countryside, as well as fresh running water, toilets and showers. Eggs for breakfast? The site is set on a family-run working farm, so the family can supply you with eggs from their chickens for an additional fee. For other meals, within a 10- to 15-minute drive of the farm, there are handfuls of pubs with good food menus in the local villages, including Long Melford, Wickham St Paul, Clare and Castle Hedingham. The market town of Sudbury is also a 15-minute drive away, with good food venues, theatre shows and boat trips running along the river Stour. If you don’t go anywhere without a furry pal, good news just in – Clarks Farm is dog-friendly. For an extra fee, there is a secure, private dog-walking field at the farm. There are good country walks along the footpaths in the local area.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Quiet rural location with mainly bird song as background noise with some occasional car somewhere in the vicinity.
The views over the gently rolling fields are just what is needed to switch the brain noise off. We loved the donkeys and their 5 star meadow.
The camping field was vast do plenty of space for kids to be kids. The host Sadie was very welcoming and spent some tine chatting to us and genuinely wanting to make us feel welcomed. She kindly brought us sone tea bags as I completely forgot.
Another big think for us was how that we were not told off for having a well behaved dog off lead. We arrived by bikes and my husband forgot to pack her ground stake long lead. She kept to where we were and did not go to anyone.
2 posh cabin portaloos separate M/L with shower and changing area and separate toilet. Shower were as hot as you preferred and free if charge.

Disliked Not a dislike as such, but a washing up area, even basic one would be good.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Loved the space. The field is huge, flat and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The toilets and showers were great for the numbers on the site. It was a very peaceful site. Perfect in many ways for those who love a rural retreat.

Disliked No dislikes as such. Our experience is the field doesn’t have a lot of shelter if the wind is up. This could definitely impact the quality of sleep for some. Also there is only one Gents toilet and shower and the same for ladies so if the field fills with campers there maybe a significant wait.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great little campsite, very clean toilets and lovely views over the countryside. Able to pitch up where we liked and lots of space for the children and dog to play.

Disliked Not a dislike but could have been clearer where to get water, maybe a sign saying the taps were safe for drinking water in the loos.
