  • Wild camping on a farm in Waveney Valley three miles from the coast
  • A five-minute drive from Oulton Broad and 10 minutes from Lowestoft
  • Pubs and restaurants within a mile or two
Set down in a wildlife haven at Waveney’s Wild Wood and Camp. Once you’ve slung a hammock between the trees or pitched your tent under the canopies, this family-friendly farm site is well-situated for historic Broads landscapes and the Norfolk coast… as it’s three miles away from the coast and a five-minute drive from Oulton Broad where you may hire out a boat to glide along the waterways. Leave no trace, as this site is geared up for guests to get back to nature. There are both toilet and shower facilities and composting toilets on site, as well as a water tap next to the car park. Mobile reception is patchy, and there's no electricity, so mind that you pack a torch to pick out your way around when it’s dark. There are firepits and braziers on site too (for use when conditions are safe), paired with rather splendid views over the marshlands of The Broads (a national park and Site of Special Scientific Interest). A 15-minute drive away, there’s a large nature reserve owned by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust with all manners of birds and winter waders. And on site, the woodlands often welcome badgers, foxes, muntjac, marsh harrier and barn owls, as well as the occasional Chinese Water deers, hares and kingfishers. This is a pretty peaceful site with laidback vibes – so you’ll have a nice base near the Suffolk and Norfolk border with locally produced food, wine and beer within a couple of miles, and easy access to the Waveney Way in Lowestoft (10 minutes’ drive), part of the 93-mile Angles Way footpath with links Great Yarmouth, Thetford, the Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path.

Sukey primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked We had a lovely pitch with the most amazing sunset views. The location is so peaceful and relaxing—perfect if you just want to chill and unwind all day, but also close enough to the coast if you fancy heading out for some fun.

Disliked Not really a dislike just a note. Could have few more toilets available but it looks like it's work in progress.

Wollemi primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked Everything was perfect! You have your own area away from other campers so it is very peaceful and chilled. In amongst the trees feels like you are properly off grid hearing the sounds of all the wild animals instead of your wild humans at others I have been to.

The toilets and showers are cleaned at least twice a day and more if needed.

The owners couldn’t do more for you! Very friendly and let me know they were available at any point during our stay.

You have to visit to see how nice it is and it’s incomparable to other local sites I’ve visited

Disliked There is nothing bad to say!

Wollemi primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked Absolutely fantastic stay at Wollemi pitch with fabulous peaceful environment and plenty of exploring for children. Facilities were cleaned regularly and the host was more than happy to chat to the children about the farm animals and even let them feed the sheep. We will definitely be returning for a longer break.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Holly Hill primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked There is a lot to like about this site, a few notable things include the location, right by Lowestoft and just a short journey to Great Yarmouth for a day out at the beach. Aldi and Tesco's only 5 minutes down the road. The wildlife and scenery was unmatched. We stayed right near some sheep in a pen, with horses just down the hill. There was firelighters, snacks, matches and firewood upon arrival, as well as a warm welcome from Peter, who also gave us a guide to the surrounding area, with pubs, restaurants, and places to visit. Peter and Helen were incredibly accommodating throughout our stay, checking in from time to time and helping us with any requests, including offering more firewood at a low price. The views were top notch, with a fantastic communal area overlooking the sunset and rolling hills. Each pitch was spacious and private, with lots of room to relax and play games etc. The facilities included a washing up basin, multiple toilets and showers, recycling and waste bins, and even a book shelf that is stocked regularly. All facilities are well kept and cleaned frequently. People say that there is bad service, but on our pitch at Holly Hill, with mobile data, we had no problems. Overall, it was an incredible stay, and we would highly recommend to everyone.

Disliked None!

Lookout primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked Amount of space was amazing
Friendly owner recommended a nice walk Price was very reasonable.
I appreciated the location of the Lookout pitch, not far from the facilities but very private feeling. The fire pit was a really nice touch, was able to make a roaring fire and use that to cook my pasta.
Great stay!

Disliked Shower had low pressure when hot and didn't get very hot.
It is a wild campsite, so thats me being very picky.
