  • Wild camping on a farm in Waveney Valley three miles from the coast
  • A five-minute drive from Oulton Broad and 10 minutes from Lowestoft
  • Pubs and restaurants within a mile or two; firepits on site
Set down in a wildlife haven at Waveney’s Wild Wood and Camp. Once you’ve slung a hammock between the trees or pitched your tent under the canopies, this family-friendly farm site is well-situated for historic Broads landscapes and the Norfolk coast… as it’s three miles away from the coast and a five-minute drive from Oulton Broad where you may hire out a boat to glide along the waterways. Leave no trace, as this site is geared up for guests to get back to nature. There are both toilet and shower facilities and composting toilets on site, as well as a water tap next to the car park. Mobile reception is patchy, and there's no electricity, so mind that you pack a torch to pick out your way around when it’s dark. There are firepits and braziers on site too, paired with rather splendid views over the marshlands of The Broads (a national park and Site of Special Scientific Interest). A 15-minute drive away, there’s a large nature reserve owned by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust with all manners of birds and winter waders. And on site, the woodlands often welcome badgers, foxes, muntjac, marsh harrier and barn owls, as well as the occasional Chinese Water deers, hares and kingfishers. This is a pretty peaceful site with laidback vibes – so you’ll have a nice base near the Suffolk and Norfolk border with locally produced food, wine and beer within a couple of miles, and easy access to the Waveney Way in Lowestoft (10 minutes’ drive), part of the 93-mile Angles Way footpath with links Great Yarmouth, Thetford, the Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path.

Wollemi primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked As a family with 2 young children we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the forest floor pitch. We were seeking a peaceful location wild camping experience for a restful week around the campfire and we were not disappointed. Pitches are appropriately spaced to provide a sense of wilderness and nature is all around. Facilities were clean and tidy. All in all a great week. Thanks guys!

Wollemi primitive forest floor tent campsite (woodland)

Liked This is an incredible campsite in a beautiful location. Helen and Peter were so kind and welcoming, and the campsite is peaceful and full of nature. There is plenty of space between pitches so you feel secluded and truly in the wild. Facilities are clean and functional. 10/10 one of the best campsites we’ve ever visited.

Holly Hill primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked What a wonderful, unique and pleasant campsite. Peter and Helen were extremely friendly and welcoming. Campsite itself has stunning and rare views of the surrounding area. Walking distance to pubs and the broads. Very clean facilities. Tidy campsite. Plenty of wildlife throughout the day into the evening. A real find and we will certainly be back.

Holly Hill primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked On a hill with ample views. We had a fire pit prepared and it was quiet and reserved.
Owner was nice and did a good job at explaining what was what.
Having toilets and Showers on such a remote site was nice.

Disliked The sink for the dishwashing didn't have a proper drain and it would splash on your feet. The water plumbing needs improvements.
Maybe a map with the local trails would have been nice to have.

Hart primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Wow. What a magical weekend. The most scenic beautiful spot to camp one could wish for! Pitches are private so felt like I had the whole place to myself. Pete was fantastic, very friendly, helpful and just a phonecall away! Felt very safe as a solo female camper! Hot shower, flushing toilet, fire pit and wood included in your pitch were unexpected luxuries! Will definitely be returning! Thank you! 😌💜🏕✨️

Lookout primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked I had been looking forward to this for a while and when i arrived i was not disappointed, i was met by Helen who led me to my pitch ( The look out) and yep wow absolutely beautiful views ( Glad i bought my binoculars).

Helen then took me on a guided tour of the other pitches they had to offer all amazing and very well kept, for those looking for a more commercial camp site feel this probably won't suit you as this is a true back to basics site. Facilities' are a very clean fully flushing toilet and shower cubical combined so yes you get a hot shower in complete privacy, plus somewhere to wash you pots, pans, plates, for me this is by far the best site i have used it ticked all my boxes and cant wait until i can return here next year.
To anyone looking to book you won't be disappointed this is totally worth every penny if you are looking for everything above.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad that you had such a memorable experience and look forward to seeing you next year.
