If boating around The Broads and floating off to the beach as you please sounds like your idea of a nice break away, then make way for Back to Basics, a five-minute drive from The Broads and 10 minutes’ drive away from sandy beaches. Whether you want to take on the rivers and lakes by boat or paddleboard or go for a dip in the sea, this wild camping site is well based for different types of pursuits. If you’d like to learn more about the area, take the 10-minute walk to the Museum of the Broads (dog-friendly, like the site). And when you have a craving for the city, Norwich is 40 minutes’ drive away. Whisk things nicely back to the basics, as the small grassy pitches have straightforward facilities including a portable toilet. Please do note, though, that some road noise can be heard from the pitches. Conveniently, the Weavers’ Way runs past the site for a path to the Norfolk coast. Based at the top end of Stalham, a small market town, all the facilities of the town are within walking distance, including tearooms, pubs (one serving food and both serving real ales), takeaways and a fish and chip shop, all within 10 minutes’ walk of the site.
