Campervan on pitch

  • A small exclusive campsite overlooking the Wensum Valley
  • Norwich and the North-Norfolk coast are easily accessible
  • Bar, café/restaurant, shop and indoor games area on site
It may be small, secluded and scenic, but Norfolk site Roundwood Dell Campsite is also a place that’s well supplied with facilities, and handily located for getting out and about… Stays here are on grass pitches within the grounds of a function centre that’s been smartly refurbed to provide a friendly bar and restaurant area that welcomes guests and locals alike; handily that means that breakfast and evening meals are available at selected times during your stay (and the staff are happy to sort out packed lunches too if booked in advance). Also around that central building are modern toilets and showers (including accessible facilities and a baby changing area), a well-maintained pot-wash area and a small shop. For other supplies (bits for your barbecue perhaps?), there’s a small supermarket 20 minutes’ walk away. A couple of pubs are a similar walk away if you’d rather have an evening out. All the camping areas here have been designated as car-free, so there’s plenty of safe space to relax in. Don’t worry if you can’t carry all your kit over to the pitch though – there’s a site vehicle that can be commandeered for such things. Where you pitch up is up to you: choose the Dell for a woodland stay (with an additional barn that’s got toilets and an indoor games area) or go for the Glade, which is nearer to the main facilities. Once you’re all set up, it’s time to head out: from here you can walk to a golf club, a game of footgolf, a nature reserve and a place to launch your canoes on the Wensum river, or hail a bus to get to the centre of Norwich in about 25 minutes.

The Dell powered grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely site, surrounded by trees and with good spacious pitches.
The facilities were some of the cleanest we've seen.
We really liked the ability to play ping-pong in the barn and it's also a good shelter from the rain.
Very safe and child friendly.
Water tap available near the tent.
Plenty of space available for keeping food/drinks in the fridge and freezer.
Management was very friendly and they even allowed us a later check-out.

Disliked The lighting in the barn could be better (it is quite dim).
It would have been nice to have showers and toilets connected to the waste system in the Dell area (I know that there are technical challenges with that).
The path up to the Glade area is very dusty, so shoes/feet get dirty easily. Also there is no light there after sunset.

Everything! The pitch was placed well and the pitches were not close…

The Dell powered grass tent campsite (small)

Liked Very friendly and family based campsite. Toilets and showers are clean.
Big plus for a water and electric supply for each tent
Barn with a fridge and freezer for campers use and games for kids was a big plus.
Lidl 2min away from the campsite.
Would recommend this campsite.

Disliked . I bit of downside was only that the bottom porch toilet where only for a wee (not “number 2”)

Excellent small site, facilities were really great, hot showers and kept spotless.…

The Glade powered gravel and earth campervan campsite

Liked Excellent small site, facilities were really great, hot showers and kept spotless. Friendly staff and a great area to base yourself in this part of Norfolk. We cycled to Norwich on an easy trail through the fields, it was so great to be able to explore the city and then cycle back to our peaceful site. Lidl was only a five minute bike/car away, handy for breakfast croissants and the paper!

The Glade powered grass tent campsite

Liked Great amenities, nice quiet location. Lovely to have both the bar/cafe for adults to relax (and kids to play), as well as the barn space for kids play, and with WiFi!
The staff were super helpful and really friendly, and cannot fault the facilities.
There are a limited number of pitches which also meant it didn't get too busy, and the kids still had space to roam without interrupting other groups.

Really convenient location not far from a LIDL, Foot Golf available at the golf course next door, and a short drive from the coast/local towns/the broads for lots of activities during the day.

Local attractions

Peaceful pedals down 26 miles of disused railway? It’s only 15 minutes’ cycle to the Marriotts Way cycle path, where there’s such a place. Footgolf or traditional golf? Wander the 15 minutes to Wensum Valley Golf Club. It’s 15 minutes’ walk to Ringland River Green, where you're free to launch a canoe or a paddleboard, or 20 minutes to the splendid Taverham Mill Nature Reserve (20 minutes walk). If you’re looking for more of an uphill climb instead, jump in the car for the Ringland Hills (five minutes’ drive). Crabbing’s a favourite pastime in Cromer (35 minutes), a splendid seaside spot, but if it’s the busy Norwich city centre (20 minutes or a bus) you’re after, the City of Norwich Aviation Museum (10 minutes) is an interesting spot for history buffs. Those animals fans among you may like to explore a little of the animal garden and dino history around Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure (10 minutes) or visit the Hillside Animal Sanctuary (15 minutes) too.
