  • Well-maintained site with excellent facilities
  • A few miles from the Norfolk coast
  • Sixteen luxury bathrooms on site with individual showers and loos
Have you ever been to the Norfolk coast? Pine-ing to return or to see it for the first time? Come and stay at Pine Cones Caravan and Camping, near King's Lynn inland and Heacham and Hunstanton on the coastline – this is such a royally good region that King Charles and his cohorts have a pad at Sandringham just a mile away. If the king were camping, it's a fairly safe bet he would like the up to date and excellently kept amenities at Pine Cones too: 16 warm luxury bathrooms, all with their own shower, toilets, basin and storage racks; a roomy, indoors washing-up area with several sinks and plenty of drainer space; and a washing machine and dryer in a separate room to sort out the laundry. Once the essentials are sorted, send the kids off to the adventure playground to try out the treehouse, rope ladders and high level walkway, and settle down in the picnic area with coffee and eats… there's a coffee machine on site and the well-stocked shop sells a good selection of items including bread, milk, and fresh and frozen food. A selection of outdoor gym equipment is also available for the energetic holidaymaker. Off site, Pine Cones is about a mile from the nearest pub the Feathers, or trot off to award-winning the Coach and Horses. Both are in nearby Dersingham village, where there's also a supermarket, takeaway and coffee shop dishing up homemade cakes daily.

Pine Views FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (comfort)

Liked: Self check in for late arrival is ideal, nice welcome pack explaining everything you need to know and a lovely site. 4yo daughter loved the park, the on site food is delicious and option to eat in the bar a nice touch. Bar is lovely, the little porch table is a lovely idea and all round we had a great stay. We'll definitely be returning. Location is also ideal being so close to quite a few local beaches.

Disliked: Chem toilet point could be better signposted but otherwise nothing, it is a great site.

Sandy Acres powered grass and sand campsite

Liked: We liked the space of the pitches! The children enjoyed just playing in some sandy bits and in the trees. We really like how clean the facilities were. Great value for money!

Disliked: The noise from the road during the night but it's not a deal breaker. That we couldn't have fires (family member booked and didn't realize until it was too late) but we still had a great time!

Pine Views FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (comfort)

Liked: The campsite was lovely and peaceful, and the pitches were almost perfectly level, which made setting up much easier. The pitch was a nice size but perhaps a little short, as we had to reverse right back up to the fence and could only just open the back doors. The bathrooms were spacious and plentiful, and the toilet disposal facilities were good. The bar was nice and not too expensive, but we chose not to eat there as the food seemed a little on the expensive side plus I enjoy cooking in my campervan.

Disliked: Here's a version of your review with improved grammar and flow:
"Upon arrival, we set up camp and enjoyed a brief period of relaxation after a rather long journey. We attempted to connect to the provided internet, but there was absolutely no signal. When we went to shower, the shower/toilet room was pleasantly warm; however, the shower itself was freezing cold. Operated by a push button, the shower required constant activation every ten seconds, resulting in a very quick and chilly wash. The shower rooms had a noticeable musty, damp odor, and after the first evening, the radiators remained off for the following days. Consequently, the rooms were cold, and the shower temperature was inconsistent, fluctuating significantly.
The view was limited to trees, and our caravan's back doors faced directly onto a fence. Additionally, the caravan behind us was only a meter away, which meant opening the doors wasn't particularly enjoyable. There isn't much to do in the immediate vicinity, and taxi services don't operate within the village, making a personal vehicle essential for exploring the surrounding area. The small picnic hut includes an electric heater, but its use requires a separate payment of £2.50 per hour. Considering the cost of £115 for a three-night fully serviced pitch, we felt this should have been included. Overall, this site wasn't the right fit for us, though others might find it appealing."

From the manager: Thank you for your review, we apologise for some of the inconvenience that you had. Unfortunately it was one of those weekends, the good news is, they happen rarely.
We had boiler problems over the weekend that the engineer though he had resolved, but reoccurred, So we activated the back up system for hot water ensuring the problem was temporarily resolved.
The internet also went down with a fault in the connection for the road to the exchange, fortunately as we are on a business lease line the repair times are quick and this problem was resolved within a short period of time.
The electric for the heater is £2.50 for 3 hours, which we do not feel is unreasonable, and it is often not needed in warm weather so for this reason we did not include in the fee.
We do hope to see you again in the near future.
Best Regards
Pinecones

Pine Views FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked: Individual bathrooms with toilet. Staff pleasant. Clean and tidy. Bar and takeaway on site.

Disliked: Too close to a main road, so constant traffic noise even at night. Not much green space on the site unlike the camping and caravanning sites we usually stay on - it seemed a little cramped.
Some of the showers were not working properly and you could only have a cold shower.

It was nice to have a takeaway on site, but the chips were sub standard as some were not cooked properly. The Wi-Fi is a bit hit and miss, sometimes working and sometimes not. Good 5g on site though.

Local attractions

Beaches, historic houses, museums and festivals, tiny villages, market towns and fab family days out are all easily accessible from Pine Cones Caravan and Camping – after a day at Sandringham, but of course, to wave at the king first... Within a couple of miles, the deer safaris, farming activities and walking trails of Snettisham Deer Park and the sights and smells of Norfolk Lavender are both good options for a day out; Snettisham has an RSPB reserve too for those itching to twitch. But as you're probably in west/north Norfolk for the beaches, head to Heacham, Holkham and Hunstanton first, the closest sands to Pine Cones, and then take a trip to Brancaster 11 miles away; the family-friendly and very scenic sands of Sheringham, Cromer and Mundsley are a little further along the coast. (Also, the final scenes of Shakespeare in Love were filmed at Holkham, and all the beaches in these parts are fairly filmworthy, so bring your camera.) Other excellent options for days out include village hopping and shopping among the scenic sights of Dersingham, Holt, Fakenham, Aylsham and Burnham Market to pick up some local produce, or going along to one of Norfolk's festivals or events: there's usually something going on throughout the year. Pine Cones is also on the edge the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – bring walking boots, crabbing nets and plenty of room for picnics.
