Not worth the money - wouldn’t recommend or stay again.
Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Has the potential to be really nice. Small area of woodland with little nooks for (smaller) tents. No noise from traffic. Get the real ‘off grid’ experience.
Location is good if you’re happy driving, but no shops or pubs etc to walk to.
Disliked -Toilet. Only 1 on the day we arrived with a second one cobbled together the following day.
-Host quite peculiar as to where you can pitch. There are no pitch numbers and we were told ‘to pitch where comfortable’ but then the host proceeded to come and tell us specifically where she wanted to squeeze us (and every other camper she had that weekend) to set up camp. The size of pitch advertised is not reflective of what you get. We were a party with 4 separate bookings, and were not able to have 4 pitches of space.
-Loud cockerels next door. Don’t mind a bit of country/farmyard noise but the 4:30 wakeups each morning followed by screeching for 2+ hours was somewhat unnecessary.
-Seemed expensive for what you get. The lack of facilities is fine if that’s what you’re going for, but should be apparent in the price.

From the manager: Before we opened this campsite this spring I had absolutely no idea how much hard work running it would be! Therefore I can forgive your comment that this campsite is not worth the money because you are unaware of the huge effort that myself and my family put in behind the scenes. One thing I hadn't anticipated was managing the rubbish. Because we are a campsite that is conscious of the environment we feel that recycling is important. Despite having separate bins for land fill and recycling most of the rubbish left by campers is all mixed together so we spend a lot of time going through it and taking out the cans and bottles. The cost to camp could be lowered were people to take their waste home with them.
The temporary extra toilet has now been replaced by a toilet that my husband built himself. Many people have appreciated the design of our simple and basic compost toilets.
It is very unusual that our campsite is at full capacity and we now have reduced the number of pitches available to be booked.
A welcoming and extremely well curated wild campsite.
Primitive grass and earth RV campsite
Liked Staying at Rosehip Wood is a really special experience. I was welcomed by Juliet, who helped me decide the best pitch for my VW campervan given my mobility issues. The facilities are basic - that is made very clear from the outset. I spent five days enjoying Rosehip Wood, for what it has to offer, peace and quiet and when busy; 'like minded' fellow campers who value nature and the environment. As a disabled solo traveller, I felt safe, secure and welcomed.
A first rate site for those of us who want a beautiful place to park our campervan or pitch our tent. I thoroughly recommend Rosehip Wood Wild Camping.
Disliked Nothing.

Peaceful, safe small site. Can be a bit chaotic and tight when busy.
Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Surrounded by trees and land. Quiet location. Felt safe and secure.
Disliked One toilet. Although it states you can 'wild wee', when the campsite is busy as it was when we were there, that's quite difficult to do privately. Therefore the compost toilet became pretty full, and there would be a queue which you would make eye contact with whilst using due to the gaps in the door haha.
Can be tight and a bit chaotic when busy. Some people were allowed cars next to tents, others werent. No clear car access/road through the trees and saw cars hit them multiple times. Tight for a small campervan/large car

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback we have done our best to address the issues that you have raised. We are a brand new campsite and up until the weekend that you stayed we had not been particularly busy. We have now put in place an extra toilet. The compost toilet was designed with a lot of open space above the door so that it becomes a "loo with a view" with the idea that people have a light and airy experience rather than being in an enclosed dark room (we are off grid so there's no light in the toilet). We had not anticipated that people would queue directly outside the door. We have now put up some fabric over the window space so that people can feel more private. People are welcome to keep their cars next to their pitch during the week when the campsite is not busy and we are now making an effort to be consistent at the weekend asking everyone to park in the car park after pitching up. We have also pruned back some of branches to make more space between trees.
