  • Spacious and well-established family-run Norfolk site in Denver
  • Thetford Forest and Sandringham Estate within a half-hour drive
  • Five fishing lakes on site; pub and golf course a short walk away
Down to Denver for the weekend? No, not that one – this is a little Norfolk village that’s home to a windmill, a golf course and a pub. It’s also home to Lakeside Caravan Park and Fisheries, a friendly family-run business that’s been welcoming guests to this lovely location for over 35 years. It’s a peaceful spot with serviced pitches (with electric and water connections) and plenty of space to put up your awning or gazebo and get your barbecue out. All sorts of guests are welcome to stay here, including groups, families and those travelling with their dogs. As you’ll no doubt have noted from the name, the main draw here is the fabulous five fishing lakes, stocked with carp, tench, bream, roach and other species and available to guests for an extra charge. And even when you’re not fishing the lakes make a gorgeous backdrop to your stay, with the surrounding trees full of wildlife too. Other facilities have been nicely thought out here, too: you’ll have access to a chemical disposal point, a coin-operated launderette and wifi, as well as clean accessible bathrooms. There’s a play area for the kids and a handy shop selling fishing bait and tackle along with various essentials. Other supplies can be picked up in Downham Market, five minutes’ drive away. Need a break from fishing (or not into it at all)? There are plenty of other activity options around, including animal parks, garden strolls, forest walks and trips to Cambridge or the Broads National Park.

Liked Nothing.

Disliked The staff was rude, the showers are miles away, the shop sells Pringles noodles an fishing stuff, they charge for camping fishing extra per day then threaten to stop u fishing until u spend 60 quid on mats they happen to stock but fail to inform you of this when u book, shops an local amenities miles away an do not deliver, the snack van never open, cost 48 for 2 days camping 17 a day to fish then all the extras they constantly watching you cameras up or vans driving by, not relaxed not friendly minimum ten pounds card spend, for a pot of Pringles and pot noodles

From the manager: Dear Lisa

With reference to your comments, when you booked you requested a secluded pitch which we gave you and also on arrival was shown the map of pitches available and closeness to the shower. You chose to be over along the hedge tucked in the corner. If this was too far away we would have been happy to move you closer if you had asked. The shop is advertised as selling basics and does not allude to being a convenience store. We are constantly monitoring prices of our fishing and camping. If you can find another local site to us that offers camping and fishing for £24 per night for a family of 4 then we would love to hear back from you.

We take the wellbeing of our fish very seriously and any fisherman would now the damage that unhooking a fish on the grass without a mat can do, that is why we asked you to purchase a mat we did not state that you had to purchase one from our shop.

We are surprised that have scored us low on cleanliness as we have had nothing but positive comments regarding the cleanliness of our toilets and showers, I am a little perplexed as to your customer service score considering you stated the staff were rude.

We understand that people have different expectations and requirements but we are a busy campsite with a lot of repeat business and currently have a waiting list for seasonal pitches.
