Listen up all you anglers, for Billingford Lakes and Country Park is a top Norfolk spot for fishing, with 11 lakes and ponds in which you can find some seriously heavy carp (up to 40lb in weight) and a good stock of tench and other coarse fish. These can be fished on day- or 24-hour tickets, and are on top of your pitch cost.
But if you’re just not that into fishing, well, there’s more to the place than that. The park owners also organise nature walks (which are free for campers and bookable once on site) and there’s a good nine-hole course and indoor simulators at Mattishall Golf Club (20 minutes’ drive) too.
The hardstanding and grass pitches themselves are set in a quiet corner of the park’s 150 acres. Steps away, you have a play area and outdoor gym, as well as a café doing a good line in breakfast baps and burgers. There are pubs in North Elmham (which also has a fish and chip shop) and Brisley (both about five minutes’ drive), all serving decent food. The nearest town is Dereham (10 minutes), which has supermarkets, pizzerias and bars.

- A cable measuring at least 5 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.
- Minimum spacing of 5 metres between pitches.
- Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.
- Swimming in the lake is not allowed.
- Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.
- The café is open daily from 9am to 3pm.
