  • Simple pitches in a flat field a mile from the village of Quinton
  • A 10-minute drive to Stratford-upon-Avon; Warwick Castle 25 minutes
  • Greenway cycle path opposite the site; dogs on leads welcome
Keep things simple for your break in the Warwickshire countryside – The Moat is a back-to-basics site on a flat field about a mile from the village of Quinton, and it’s a place that’s all about providing a quiet spot for a budget-friendly outdoor break. Accessed via a layby on the B4632, this site is well located for all sorts of days out, from walks in the Cotswolds National Landscape to exploring historic attractions like Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon. A greenway starts just across the road for cycle rides to Stratford-upon-Avon, and there are plenty of places around for a good walk in scenic countryside. Dogs are welcome to join you on those walks, and on site as long as they’re kept on a lead. The setup here is a simple one, with just toilet and shower facilities, plus a chemical disposal point. There’s plenty of space to get your pitch set up with whatever gazebos, awnings and outdoor furniture makes you feel at home, and for the kids to have a bit of a run around in the fresh air. There’s a shop for your food supplies in the village – and it’s also got a pub and a takeaway for easy meals. A couple of other pubs are within a few minutes’ drive as well.

Liked: Great little site, friendly welcome. Well kept flat field with plenty of room, toilets and showers clean and tidy. Secure site felt very safe. Incredible value for money. Will definitely be back.

Disliked: Toilet and shower block are shared at the moment, this is being changed. However we did not find it an issue even with quite a few campers on site.

Local attractions

When you stay here you’ll be just a little way north of the top edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, so there’s lots of lovely scenery to explore on walks and outings there. Some of the favourite spots nearby include National Trust - Hidcote (10 minutes’ drive), Broadway Tower (20 minutes), Cotswold Lavender (20 minutes) and Batsford Arboretum (25 minutes). For other ways to see some of your surroundings, you may like to take a walk along the eight-mile Blossom Trail from Evesham (25 minutes) – it’s particularly lovely in spring, when all the flowers bloom. A steam train ride from Broadway to Cheltenham on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is another excellent option. To take in some of the area’s history, spend the day in Stratford-upon-Avon (10 minutes), visiting Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Tudor World. The town is also home to the MAD Museum and Stratford Butterfly Farm for family outings. Warwick Castle (25 minutes) is a great choice for a full day out as well, with all sorts of displays, play areas and kids’ activities as well as the medieval castle and parkland to explore.
