  • A 10-minute drive from Alton Towers and Uttoxeter Racecourse
  • Large family-friendly bar and restaurant with events and takeaways
  • Spacious beer garden with play area and large climbing frame
Up for theme park thrills? New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is 10 minutes' drive away from Alton Towers – and has a comfy number of amenities to have you sorted on site too. Set in two peaceful acres with flat grass pitches, the park has a traditional pub (which is both large and family-friendly) with a family restaurant. There's also a big beer garden with a play area. And it's all in the small Staffordshire village of Checkley, a short drive away from Uttoxeter Racecourse and The Potteries as well as Alton Towers. The pub serves decently priced drinks and meals including carvery, cooked breakfasts and pizza (pizza is available for takeaway too). It's got a pool table for evenings of friendly competition, and hosts regular events such as rock nights, tribute nights and darts nights. New Broom also has a toilet/shower facility that guests can use free of charge, 24 hours a day.

What customers say

Great campsite with a welcoming vibe and a great pub. Staff are super helpful. Facilities are clean but basic. Close to Alton Towers, but road noise can be an issue (earplugs available).

Liked Facilities were clean. We got given earplugs on arrival due to the campsite being near a main road which really did help to block out the traffic. Owner was really nice.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Facilities were really clean and well looked after.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Pub served really nice, reasonably priced food.

Disliked Close to a busy road, a little bit of road noise but this can’t be helped and didn’t cause us any issues. Earplugs were provided but we didn’t need these.

Liked Lovely, clean site. Easy to find and to access. The toilets and showers were exceptionally clean. They were cleaned regularly. Staff were friendly and the site felt safe for our two young children.
Food and service at the adjacent pub were excellent and the play area was an added bonus. Thanks for having us!

Liked A very friendly site, the owner couldnt do enough for you, nothing was a trouble and he was always on hand to help as were the staff.

We had some lovely homemade food at the pub, great portions and very very tasty.

A lovely welcoming atmosphere for us, including our dog, and our family that joined us for a couple of nights.

We were greeted with around 30 bikers on their annual gathering when we arrived and were a little dubious about noise etc but it was perfectly fine. Although this made the pub very busy, the service never dropped and the staff were amazing.

Although quite basic the shared facilities were sufficient and regularly maintained.

A lovely stay.

Disliked The pitches are well used in areas so not a lot of grass on some and are on a slant for a lot of them.

Although food was amazing in the bar, drinks could be quite expensive and it built up over 4 days.
