  • Peaceful 20-acre marina location in the Staffordshire countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to Lichfield; 20 minutes to Drayton Manor Theme Park
  • Barbecues and picnic tables provided; short walk to a dog-friendly pub
Whether it’s picnics looking out over the marina or lazy mornings walking along the Coventry Canal, there’s plenty of scope for peaceful activities at Kings Orchard Marina in the middle of the Staffordshire countryside. This is a pretty marina location with 20 acres of space, all landscaped and maintained to a high standard, with a marina basin for views and a canal, narrowboat hire and local pub 10 minutes’ walk away. For any keen explorers, the icing on the cake might be that historic Lichfield is 10 minutes’ drive to the west. That means you can explore the medieval city’s 12th-century cathedral, market square and the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum by day before heading back in the evening to use the site’s food prep area to build a barbecue spread on the grills provided. Handily, there's a food shop under five minutes' drive away. The free-to-use barbecues and picnic tables dotted around the site are useful facilities for those quality times. As for features of convenience, Kings Orchard Marina also has toilets, showers, waste disposal and an Elsan unit. With the Staffordshire countryside on all sides, walk to your heart’s content, but don’t forget that real ales, traditional pub fare and a beer garden await at the local dog-friendly country pub alongside the Coventry Canal. This place, 10 minutes’ walk away, is a good spot for those of you who have brought dogs on your holiday.

What customers say

A peaceful, well-kept marina campground with friendly, helpful staff. Spacious, serviced sites with easy access to canal walks and a popular local pub. Clean, though some find facilities dated and limited. Road access has potholes. Recommended for a relaxing getaway.

Liked Lovely and peaceful

Disliked Toilets and showers together. Only two toilets and shower rooms so if both rooms used for showering a long wait for the toilet.

Liked Lovely site. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked We decided to stay here due to the canal walk down to the local pub.
This didn't happen as there were no spare gate keys, which was very disappointing.

Liked I like the peace and quiet and that the water was at the pitch. I didn't use the facilities so I can't comment on those, but what I saw looked very clean. The staff were helpful and polite.

FHU gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Very clean site, full service pitch was a good size.
Nice pub down the road 10 min walk but the road it not lit so it’s a big hard walking back in the dark!

Disliked Could have done with a new shower block near the pitches .. There is literally one on our side of the marina a shower and toilet together so always busy!
The others were on the other side and you needed a key to get into them.
Also you needed a key to get out of the site via the canal which were weren't told about when we checked in!

Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked It's the first time we had tried our campervan with no hook up, so possibly the fact it performed well added to our trip, however, we stayed at the very end of the non serviced pitches and had a beautifull view over the fields. It was a very peaceful site amd the kids were able to kick and throw their balls in the farmers field, luckily it had just been cut and the weather was great so again this all added to the weekend. The toilets were clean and had proper showers, my 10yo lad said it was the best camping shower he had ever had so they must be doing something right. Seing the marina gave the site another plus as it is intriguing to see the boating world and a different option to camping, we chatted to a few of the boaters amd they were all lovely. I could not fault the site for the money and recommend anyone using Staffordshire as a layover or as we did to see friends use this as a base.

Disliked There are only 2 toilets, so there was often a short wait but the site isn't massive so you were in within 5 mins usually if you did have to wait.
