  • Family-friendly Staffordshire farm site for CAMC members only
  • Just outside the Peak District; 20 minutes’ drive from Ashbourne
  • A five-minute walk from a café; five minutes' drive from a shop
Not long after getting set up at New Street Farm Certificated Location, you might find yourself pottering around Peak District villages, pointing at exotic animals or zooming along rollercoasters. And that's because this handy site, for Caravan and Motorhome Club members only, is on the edge of the Peak District National Park and just a 10-minute drive from popular attractions like the Peak Wildlife and Alton Towers. If you’re hoping for somewhere with a little bit of a rural feel, this family-friendly site is an excellent choice – it has a pony and chickens that guests are welcome to feed. There’s also plenty of space for children to run around and play, and views of the countryside are a given. As for the practical side of things, there is also an annexe with a shower and toilet on site. Morning routines have plenty of potential here, with a café an easy five minutes’ walk away from the farm for coffee and baked treats. For any food shopping needs, head to Waterhouses, which is five minutes’ drive away from the farm. An Indian restaurant is a 20-minute walk away from the site for your dinner, although you may want to take advantage of the chance to set up your own barbecue and get grilling some local Peak District produce.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (members only)

Liked Location and easy access.

Nice view over countryside

Disliked Pitches do slope slightly and site could do with more water taps (only one and difficult to access when we arrived and when pitch in front is occupied).

Grey waste disposal not accessible for us, as can not get anywhere near with motorhome grey tank and we do not carry a wastehog.

Site in-between two busy roads so lots of road noise.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite (members only)

Liked Small fairly quiet site with room for 5 motorhomes the facilities were clean and very nice although we didn't use them. Not a bad stopover but I wouldn't stay longer than one night . A fantastic price with EHU , Elson and water so everything you need.

Disliked The pitch was on quite a bad slope even with chokes we still needed a rope to pull us up to the back of the van Ha Ha. Joking apart it's very annoying the pitches really need leveling out on the plus side the views are beautiful and on a sunny day it would be gorgeous.

Liked Wonderful site, pitches had great views and plenty of room. Clean and tidy facilities. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Great location for Alton towers, Peak wildlife park, days out to Matlock Buxton. Ideal for hikers as not far from the Roaches and other peaks.

Local attractions

Where to start your explorations? Perhaps in Leek (10 minutes’ drive), strolling along the cobbles from the market square to independent shops, café, the Victorian Butter Market or the pub for a real ale? Or maybe in Ashbourne (20 minutes), taking in over 200 listed buildings, including Tudor and Georgian designs, and distant limestone peaks? For a sweet treat, try the Ashbourne Gingerbread from the town’s famed timber-framed shop. From Ashbourne, you can also set off onto the Tissington Trail, a cycling trail that follows an old railway line through the Peak District landscapes. If you prefer to hike, the trail is walkable too. The Roaches (20 minutes) are another excellent option; the gritstone rocks have splendid views out over the national park. Craving the water? Rudyard Lake (25 minutes) is a pretty spot for a day out, with fishing, canoeing and kayaking all reigning popular, and a Victorian-style steam railway running on the shore. And of course there's those excellent family attractions – perhaps you'd like to meet penguins, lemurs and polar bears at the Peak Wildlife Park, or get set for an action-packed day at Alton Towers. Both are 10 minutes' drive away.
