  • Family-run dairy farm and fishery with views over The Roaches
  • Short drive to Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and Tittesworth Water
  • On-site farm shop and farm animals; 10 minutes' walk to two local pubs
Set on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, Brooklyn Grange Farm is a back-to-basics site on a family-run dairy farm surrounded by gorgeous Staffordshire countryside. The scenery here is varied indeed, with views over quiet fishing pools, grassy meadows and the spectacular rocky ridge known as The Roaches. You'll also be well placed to sample local produce at this small-scale site – you can head to the farm shop, which sells eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese, barbecue meats and other goodies, or grab a local ice cream, milkshake or fresh milk from the on-site Milk Barn. You're welcome to light up a barbecue, as long as it's kept off the grass. If you don't have your own, there are firepits for hire (a cash deposit is required) from the farm shop and kindling and logs for sale. There's also a village pub and carvery around 10 minutes' walk away on the edge of Thorncliffe (with another around 10 minutes' walk away in Blackshaw Moor). For more flavours, try Leek (five minutes' drive), a local market town with a good range of restaurants, cafés and food shops. After a trip to town it's back to the countryside, where you might like to try a spot of catch-and-return fishing at one of the site's well-stocked ponds (for an extra fee, to be booked and paid for at the on-site farm shop; you must have an Environment Agency licence; no fishing available during the spawning season, which is generally in late May and/or early June). You could also take yourself off for a hike in the national park (a mile away), where there are many miles of well-mapped trails to explore. As for facilities, Brooklyn Grange Farm has functional and well-maintained toilets for guests. There is one shower available here (bookable for an extra charge at the farm shop), or you can take the option of travelling five minutes down the road to Brough Park Leisure Centre.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Beautiful scenery, the shop on site is great.

Disliked I love dogs, we have 3. We took our chihuahua here, but the owners puppy is a little unruly, first altercation was when my wife took the children to the on site shop and the dog kept jumping up my 10 year old, she got upset and the lady did manage to get the dog back on the other side of the gate (fair enough) the dog likes to jump the gates onto the campsite, so a further 2 occasions where this dogs jumping up at our car and excitedly jumping up to my children who was crying and screaming for the dog to go, the dog took there football and popped it (cheeky begger lol) now I know this dogs not aggressive, I’d just appreciate it if he wasn’t allowed to roam free without any supervision, as it was upto ourselves, and another set of campers to deter the dog from us. We would love to come back! I just hope puppy is trained before then :)

The lady in a shop meet us with a smile, showed everything, explained. We was able to choose by ourselves where to make a tent on the pitch.
About toilets i don't have any negative reviews..clean and with everything you need.every day toilets was cleaned. Yes sometimes you had to wait maybe a minute or two minutes us on Saturday night it was more people but its not a problem at all.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked The surrounding area away from the campsite

Disliked Where do I start.. it has fishing ponds with every rule under the sun with bailiffs checking up daily. The campsite however has an 11pm curfew which is completely ignored and not managed. Site seems to attract groups of lads who stay up getting drunk till the early hours playing loud music. We were hoping for a quiet getaway in the Derbyshire countryside but almost packed up and left in the early hours. There seems to be no limit to the amount of pitches it was so packed and we looked on the website and it said there were still pitches available. It was like being at a festival. If you want no sleep and basically camping on top of each other choose this place. There are two toilets on the site which is no where near enough queuing for 15-20 mins at least with people going in the bushes which was disgusting. The refuge point was basically an overflowing skip with hundreds of wasps. I don’t normally leave reviews but in the hope of helping someone avoid this site if they want a quiet weekend away with decent facilities would make it worth it.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked It is a beautiful farm with nice animals like horeses, donkeys, goats, cows. And a peacful lake.

Disliked Unfortunately, the stay was ruined by disruptive behavior at night. A group of young men were smoking weed, shouting, and playing loud music until around 2 a.m. It was impossible to get any rest. There was no visible management or enforcement of quiet hours, making the experience stressful and exhausting. Not the peaceful retreat I was hoping for.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked The staff were very friendly, the views were amazing, lovely farm shop, great pitch. Plenty of toilet roll. Clean facilities.

Disliked Could do with another toilet and the skip was absolutely full to the rafters by the end of the weekend but didn’t effect our trip.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, much appreciated - extra toilets coming soon as we have not long finished building the new septic tank to accommodate - skip people were supposed to come last week & replace, but never turned up, coming this week now

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked So so friendly and helpful :) Superb site. All in all a really lovely family stay, thank you so much for having us :)

Disliked Might be worth asking on booking if anyone is frightened of dogs etc. Granted its a farm so dogs are to be expected. But one bouncy dog was off the lead on the campsite and ran over to my 5 year old (who is petrified of dogs) right by our tent. Took me a while to calm him down. The same thing happened the next morning by the shop, even though one of the owners was there the night before and saw what happened.
