Set on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, Brooklyn Grange Farm is a back-to-basics site on a family-run dairy farm surrounded by gorgeous Staffordshire countryside. The scenery here is varied indeed, with views over quiet fishing pools, grassy meadows and the spectacular rocky ridge known as The Roaches. You'll also be well placed to sample local produce at this small-scale site – you can head to the farm shop, which sells eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese, barbecue meats and other goodies, or grab a local ice cream, milkshake or fresh milk from the on-site Milk Barn. You're welcome to light up a barbecue, as long as it's kept off the grass. If you don't have your own, there are firepits for hire (a cash deposit is required) from the farm shop and kindling and logs for sale. There's also a village pub and carvery around 10 minutes' walk away on the edge of Thorncliffe (with another around 10 minutes' walk away in Blackshaw Moor). For more flavours, try Leek (five minutes' drive), a local market town with a good range of restaurants, cafés and food shops. After a trip to town it's back to the countryside, where you might like to try a spot of catch-and-return fishing at one of the site's well-stocked ponds (for an extra fee; you must have an Environment Agency licence; no fishing available during the spawning season, which is generally in late May and/or early June). You could also take yourself off for a hike in the national park (a mile away), where there are many miles of well-mapped trails to explore. As for facilities, Brooklyn Grange Farm has functional and well-maintained toilets for guests. There is one shower available here (bookable for an extra charge at the farm shop), or you can take the option of travelling five minutes down the road to Brough Park Leisure Centre.

Liked Site is clean with easy access, clean toilets and pretty surroundings, good view and nice fishing lakes.

Disliked The family who run the site have dogs they let loose to roam.
One of the families dogs was loose on the field and came over to my tent attacked my dog who was sitting calmly outside my tent with myself and my daughter. The dog latched onto my dogs neck and I had to lift him in the air and the other dog did not let go. In the end luckily we got rid of the other dog and my dog was not hurt, just shaken.

Other on lookers on the field came to check on us and one who said she has camped before here informed us there used to be signs saying be aware of the black and white dog as he bites, but I checked around this time and there was no signs.

Due to this I wouldn’t camp here again unfortunately, which is a shame as it’s a nice spot

Liked Lovely people and absolutely lovely site. Loads of products in farm shop from homemade stuff to fresh produce to things you might of forgot to bring. Toilets were clean and close to camp. Showers on site as well.

Liked We love this place. We are returning campers, friendly staff great pitches with some grass left on so not really hard, since last year there is some new toilets so no more cues. Amazing farm shop, beautiful surroundings and quick drive to Leek town. Esp like the slightly later check out meaning for a weekend camping you get the weekend not up at the crack on Sundays. Thank you

Liked Lovely basic campsite with great facilities . Great farm shop with all you need including a wide of products including meat straight for the farm to bbq and enjoy the stunning views of the roaches which a situated in hull view to the north .

If your idea of fun doesn't include days full of white-knuckle rollercoaster rides, another family-friendly option is Peak Wildlife Park (10 minutes). For those rainy days, it's not far to reach Blaze Farm and The Potty Sheep (20 minutes), an ice cream farm which also organises paint-a-pot activities. For further agreeable outings, head to the Churnet Valley Railway (15 minutes) or the Manifold Valley (10 minutes) and Thor's Cave (20 minutes).
