Just next to the Offa’s Dyke Path and on the banks of the River Teme, Panpwnton Farm is about as close to Wales as it’s possible to be without actually being in Wales (although as the border’s just a couple of hundred metres away you can easily flit between the two nations as you wish…) That location makes this a prime pick for anyone making their way along the entirety of the Offa’s Dyke Path – but there’s plenty of walking (and cycling too) to be done nearby for folk who aren’t up for such long-distance ventures. The farm is in the southern stretches of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes' drive from Llanfair Waterdine), where lots of scenic trails await, and you can also try out shorter stretches of Glyndwr’s Way, another major trail on the Welsh side of the border. There’s pretty rural scenery all around the farm, but you’ll not be stranded miles from civilisation – in fact it’s only about a mile to the small town of Knighton for pubs, eateries, shops and a railway station. You can drive down there in five minutes or so, but the favoured way to travel is to stroll along the riverbank for 20 minutes. Barbecues are permitted on site, so stock up on goodies for the grill while you’re in town. A washing-up area is on hand for cleaning up afterwards, and there are hot showers to help you do the same for yourself. There’s no wifi on site, but most guests get decent phone signal, and there are charging facilities to make sure you’ve got plenty of juice to plan your adventures.

Great shower and place to charge phone, fridge and kettle.

Lots of space and nature.

Great access to Offa's Dike, straigh up the hill, path runs through campsite.

Liked Fantastic site. Very beautiful. Lovely staff. Great walks from the site and village with pubs in walking distance. Lots of nice people on site too.

Disliked The large group having a film show on a big screen and the loud music all night from another group!

A very picturesque site with plenty to see and do..
Great facilities , free showers , hot water a fridge and a freezer.
On site cafe surrounded by wildlife and nature .

Liked Roxy is very welcoming and attentive. The fields are kept in good order, there's always lots of little touches being added.

Love Offas Treats, its a fab addition to the site. This will always be our go to favorite

Liked We liked the friendly owners/staff, the new and clean bathrooms, excellent location within walking distance to Knighton, the on site coffee kiosk (Offa's Treats), lots of hot water and good phone coverage.

Disliked Not dislikes but things to consider. We were at the end of the far field (we chose the pitch) so it was a little bit of a walk to the toilet block. A portaloo or two scattered around would make that middle of the night call of nature a little quicker. This site is right next to a railway which was not particularly busy over the bank holiday weekend but there were a couple of early trains on weekdays.

Liked As newbies to campervan touring we loved the relaxed vibe of this site - One very pleasant interaction with the host, no particular stipulations about where or how to park up. Managed to find a good, level-ish spot. Very pleasant riverside walk into Knighton and a great ice-cream / snack / breakfast bar kiosk on site. A railway line runs right next to the site but there were very few trains so of no consequence. Site is all grass pitches with no hook up.

Local attractions

As you’ll probably be skipping about either side of Offa’s Dyke, it makes sense to start your trip with a visit to the Offa’s Dyke centre (five minutes’ drive) to find out about the ancient landmark. For other walking trails, head to the Elan Valley or Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (both 40 minutes). For a closer look at the natural world, plan trips to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (25 minutes) or stop by at the Red Kite Feeding Station (40 minutes) to see these splendid beasts in flight. The Spaceguard Centre observatory (10 minutes) is also worth a visit if you’d like to find out more about the skies overhead. Castle outings are part of the landscape for trips here too – perhaps to the impressive 13th-century fortifications of Stokesay Castle (half an hour) or the art-filled rooms and colourful gardens of Powis Castle and Garden (50 minutes). If you’d rather skip straight to the garden strolls, try Hergest Croft Gardens (25 minutes).
