Fishing in the sun

  • Peaceful adults-only touring site in landscaped Shropshire parkland
  • Shrewsbury and Shropshire Hills walks 15 minutes' drive away
  • Fully serviced pitches with access to six fishing pools on site
Time to spend some quality time with your fishing rods? Load all your kit into your caravan and set off to the Shropshire countryside and a pitch at Condover Park Touring Caravan Site. The peaceful adults-only hardstanding pitches here make a great place to park up for a quiet break, but there’s extra attraction for the anglers among you in the form of six (yes, six) well-stocked fishing pools on site. Day tickets (and weekly ones for the true enthusiasts) can be bought on arrival at the site so you can decide as you go along how you’d like to spend your days. As excellent as the fishing prospects are here, that’s not all there is to do around here – there’s a golf course nearby too, along with plenty of places to get out for a scenic walk (perhaps in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the northern edge of which is about 15 minutes’ drive away). National Trust properties and the attractions of Ironbridge are close by too, and there’s always the option of some time in Shrewsbury, 15 minutes’ drive away. Of course, at some point you should schedule in some time simply chilling out at this lovely site, which sits within peaceful landscaped parkland and has views over the south Shropshire countryside. There are no kids allowed on site here but you’ll have some wildlife for company – and dogs are welcome to join you for walks around the ponds and woodlands. Well-kept pitches have electric hook-ups and water points along with access to showers, toilets and toilet/grey water disposal facilities. Barbecues are allowed, and there’s a food pub five minutes’ drive away.

What customers say

This peaceful, well-kept site offers great fishing and clean facilities. Pitches are spacious, some with full hookups. Note the lack of lighting, on-site shop/dishwashing, and distant trash cans. Some guests found it pricey for the amenities. Adult-focused, dog-friendly, with nice walks. Manager extended the season due to feedback.

Liked The choice of fishing lakes, and the fishing was brilliant. We saw a kingfisher for the first time! Peace and quiet. Toilet block was clean.

Disliked Didn't stay long enough! It's a shame that fishing ends this month.

Local attractions

If you’d like to mix up your fishing time with some other outdoor activities, plan games of golf at Shrewsbury Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive), hire canoes to paddle along the River Tern (20 minutes) or set off to stroll through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – places like Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (20 minutes) are perennially popular but there are lots of quieter trails to seek out too. Getting to know the area’s history may well start with a trip to Ironbridge (half an hour), home to 10 museums including a tile museum and china museum as well as Blists Hill Victorian Town. On the smarter side of history are country estates including the ruins of Acton Burnell Castle, the gorgeous parkland of National Trust - Attingham Park (20 minutes) and the fortified manor of moated Stokesay Castle (25 minutes). Meanwhile, Shrewsbury (15 minutes) has a museum to visit and a historic town trail to follow.
