  • Campsite next to the Severn Valley Railway in Shropshire countryside
  • A 25-minute drive to West Midlands Safari Park; Ironbridge 40 minutes
  • Playground, fairy village and nature pond on site; steam train views
What a spot for vintage train lovers. Wellness Woodlands has a peaceful rural setting in Shropshire, just 15 minutes' drive away from the historic market town of Bridgnorth. And this is where the trains come in — the site has a private woodland walk that'll take you directly to the Severn Valley Railway, where there is a museum and station. Just a little further on, the local pub sells good food and local ales. Round and about on site, there are four wildlife ponds as well as resident geese, chickens and ducks. Set over 20 acres, there are lots of walks to explore amid woodland planted with native trees. You may also get lucky and see buzzards and red kites circling above, or woodpeckers among the trees. Kids are welcomed with open arms here, and they can keep themselves entertained at the play area, find rope swings in the woods or head off to discover the themed fairy village. To keep you, your offspring and any dogs safe, no vehicles are allowed by the pitches. This is an eco-friendly, off-grid campsite (note: off-grid equals no electricity), with no-frills amenities including separate showers and an outdoor sink for washing up. If the weather turns, simply take cover at the HUB communal area. As far as catering goes, buy foodie supplies in Highley (five minutes’ drive) or dodge cooking altogether by eating in the pubs there. Back at base, buy fresh eggs for a breakfast fry-up or spread your bread with honey produced by the resident bees. As this is a quiet site, portable sound systems are not permitted. Please be particularly considerate of others between 10pm and 6am. Please note that the site grounds are not completely even and that cars cannot be parked by the pitches (trolleys are available to help you transport your luggage from the parking area).

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Really lovely site with access straight into the Severn Valley Country Park and to the Severn Valley Railway.
Site was quiet with loads of space to pitch-up.
Shared areas such as the kitchen, BBQ and covered tables with seating were great.
Several pubs, the river, the SVR Engine Shed and the main SVR station all in walking distance.

Disliked: Toilet facilities were clean, but small. Not an issue for us on a quiet weekend, but could be an issue if very busy.

Pumpkin bell tent (medium)

Liked: Beautiful site, quite basic but everything was spic and span, and Jess was very friendly and helpful. We were the only ones there on the Sunday night and the peace and serenity of the site were wonderful. Having said that, even with other campers there, it's so spacious an area (used to be an 18 hole golf course), that we weren't bothered by anyone. Shower was lovely and hot and the outdoor kitchen well supplied with everything needed to cook. Inflatable bed in Bell tent comfortable and tent itself marvellously roomy (we had the Pumpkin one). Nice walks including one down to the railway station and the pub and river.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Me and my friend came here for the weekend such a lovely and peaceful area, very clean and well kept grounds, sadly we had to leave early we would come here again and reccomened to anyone to come here and experience wellness woodlands.

Throughout the day you can hear the train and birds chirping away, and on the night you can hear the animals, there is no light pollution either so the night sky is absolutely amazing.

There is a communal area with toilets, showers and even a station to be able to wash and clean any utensils and items such as pots and pans etc

Staff were super friendly and helpfull can't wait to bring my partner here thankyou so much sorry we didn't get to say a proper goodbye. Thankyou so much for having us.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Excellent facilities, views, location and local amenities (can highly recommend the local curry house for a last-minute solution to forgetting to bring some dinner on the first night)

The site is a former golf course so is easily traversed and very accessible.

We stayed during the Severn Valley Railway’s steam gala - it was a 90 second walk from our pitch to Highley Station. Easy access to the station, the Ship Inn pub and then trains to Bridgnorth etc.

Disliked: Nothing.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Friendly welcome on arrival, huge amount of space available for camping and fantastic for some peace and quiet, with the only noise coming from the local wildlife. I'll be recommending the site to anyone I know who fancies a few days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: Came for a family weekend to celebrate my son's 11th birthday. What a weekend it was. Lovely campsite. Clean facilities, showers available, fridgw to store food, kettle for hot water, trolleys to transport camping gear to pitch. very friendly and helpful staff. Local amenities for shopping just up the road which was great for convenience. Great place to go with kids, plenty space to play games, play area, fairy garden, mud kitchen, walking trails and train tracks close by to watch trains come by every 30mins-1hr. Perfect place for star gazing especially when sky's are clear. Thank you Roger/Jess for running a beautiful camp site. First time for me attending and won't be the last!

Disliked: Mud kitchen was mentioned as available for kids, however was over grown with brambles and nettles, could do with some TLC, however great idea for kids attraction.

Liked: The owner Jess was so lovely and helpful. We were impressed by the site but also the values of the site. They don’t over book so you feel very secluded. The amenities the site provided are above and beyond. We will definitely be back. Thank you wellness Woodlands😀
