What customers say
This campsite offers a peaceful, rustic, and "off-grid" experience with spacious pitches and beautiful countryside views, especially noted for stunning sunsets. Guests appreciate the friendly, accommodating hosts and informal atmosphere. Some shower facilities have been temperamental, and occasional issues with bins/lighting were mentioned but are being addressed. The site is well-located for walks and country pubs.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Great site. I went midweek and it was very peaceful and quiet. Its just find a spot and pitch where you want arrangement, I got a nice spot near the woodland bit. A basic site with pot washing facility, and a couple of shower and toilet cubicles which where clean. It was exactly what I needed. Id definitely use again.
Disliked A bit pricey for a no frills site.

Disliked People not respecting space when the site is enormous. Had better services for less than £25.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Lovely, informal feeling, campsite. Pitched for one night in the woodland bit with plenty of shade. Friendly greeting. Nice and close to nottingham but definitely countryside - saw hares…. There looks to be good facilities at the top of the site and I can imagine it’s nice and buzzy when it’s busy, but I went midweek and I loved the quiet and simplicity of the woodland pitches.
Disliked Nothing. Everything was ‘as advertised’.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Was not many other people so was really nice and quiet and peaceful, some beautiful spots overlooking the beautiful towns, decent washing up station
Disliked The shower was a bit temperamental.. the first night we had a good warm shower. But the second night, one shower was freezing cold and the other shower wasn’t turning on. It was a boiling hot day so we had to force ourselves to have an ice cold shower 🥶

Basic back to nature camping with the luxury of toilets and showers
Primitive grass travel trailer campsite
Liked A lovely secluded site with a couple of basic but very clean little huts housing flushing toilets alongside two small but perfectly adequate shower huts. The hot water was a bonus after returning from a long hike.
The site itself has plenty of pitches to choose from, we booked a non hook up grass campervan pitch and had plenty of space around us even though the site was technically full. There is a choice of more sheltered pitches backing onto a wooded area or a little higher up the field where you can watch the sun setting over the Trent Valley. Access to both areas was OK even after a week of wet weather.
Lots of great walking and cycling routes starting close to the site, the 30 minute walk to Gunthorpe riverside was pleasant where there are several nice pubs to choose from plus an Indian restaurant too.
Will definitely be returning but worth remembering to bring a torch as the lights in the toilets are solar powered and can be a little dim.
Disliked Nothing
