What customers say
This quiet, secluded gravel pitch with a water tap is perfect for short, off-grid stays. Its charm is its simplicity and canal access for peaceful walks and wildlife. Owners are friendly. Some found the gravel deep and entrance tight, with no toilets. Fishing was overgrown for one guest. A padlocked gate secures the site.

Friendly host
Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Small gravel area for a few vans. Water tap available. Hop over the bridge and tow path walks along the canal. Pub and shop in Yelvertoft which is a few minutes away.
Also offers clamping pods with log burner and wood fired hot tub. Very nice indeed
Disliked Nothing. No real facilities but that was made clear

Single pitch site in nature
Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Single pitch site next to canal, hard standing, self check in.
Wildlife all around, red kite in the middle of the road as I left.
Being really picky you can hear the A14 in the distance but the birdsong in the morning drowns it out.

Great! Looking forward to revisiting during the other seasons.
Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked New camper van, so needed a local overnighter to get the feel of her. The simplicity of this pitch is its charm - The gate, the gravel and the water tap. A 30 second walk over the bridge to the tow path of the Grand Union canal for walking the dog on arrival and before departure.
Disliked Nothing really - I was a little worried I didn’t initially have the correct location from the postcode and different season pictures, but then used the My Three Words reference and that confirmed all was good.

Back to basics camping at it’s best.
Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Seclusion of the site
Proximity to canal towpath
Shingle pitch with good drainage
This was an overnight stop on our way to Cheshire, we enjoyed it so much we booked another night on our journey home a week later.

Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked We were in a VW camper van. All very good. Hardstanding. Quiet.
Disliked A sign on gate would be good. Directions perfect but we arrived in dark and we’re not 100% sure we’d found right place especially as hadn’t appreciated it was just one pitch site. Almost parked in owners own car parking spot which was further up lane as same gate and gravel layout. For no facilities except a tap could be cheaper.

From the manager: Thanks for leaving a review Catherine.
We have thought about a sign at great length. Whilst we don't get anti-social problems in the area, we erred on the side of not advertising the presence of vans to minimise any security risks.
Appreciate that finding it in the dark can be a little tricky, which is why we recommend using What3Words, which will navigate you to the gate.
Best wishes.

Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Loved it! Had a couple of clear and helpful emails from the owner prior to staying, one of which was to inform us of a horse event happening during our stay, and giving us the option to switch days should we wish. (We didn’t).
The owner even walked up in the afternoon to introduce himself, and ask if we needed anything during our stay.
The pitch is huge, probably large enough to get one of those American type motorhomes that have extending sections.
The ground is flat, and well compacted gravel, so you’ll need a good ham,met for putting up awnings. There’s a gate as well so you’re nicely secured.
Very easy to get to from the A14Jcn2 at welford, thus making it a perfect overnight stop in the midlands if one was making a long trip across country.
The facilities are fresh water only, so dont expect shower facilities etc.
Overall very peaceful with great walks along the canal in either direction.

Primitive gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Is a single gravel pitch remote from anywhere with just a water tap. Van needs to have its own facilities but fine for a short stay.
Disliked Very tight entrance and not suitable for a large van. No clear markings or reception to indicate is is a caravan site.

Sorry about the fishing - you should have dropped me a text, and I'd have brought the strimmer down! Drop me a text if you choose to visit again and I'll make sure it's all good to go.
