  • Welcoming family-friendly campsite in rural Northamptonshire
  • A 20-minute drive from Silverstone Circuit; Milton Keynes 25 minutes
  • Family-friendly site with pitches by the Grand Union Canal
Traquair is a small site with a back to basics approach in a great location in rural Northamptonshire. Blisworth, the nearest village, is under a mile away, meaning that two friendly local pubs, a post office and a gift shop are all easily accessible on foot. Perhaps the main attraction of this place is just how close the pitches are to the Grand Union Canal (it's five minutes away) and the many walks along its towpath. Fancy watching the boats bobbing past? It's a short walk from here to two marinas where you can check out the narrowboats and spot wildlife (including the occasional fleeting kingfisher) along the water's edge. In addition, Traquair is within easy reach of lots of Central England's best visitor attractions, including the Silverstone Circuit, the city of Milton Keynes and Bletchley Park. The camping field is mainly flat, level and maintained to a high standard and has simple amenities including a running water tap and portable toilet facilities. The overall vibe here is laidback and family-friendly, while the fact that the site is in a gated field is handy for extra privacy and peace of mind.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked I liked the basic campsite that was easy to find. The gate was bolted at night and I overlooked a field with horses and in the evening watched nature at its best in the field. Rabbits playing, horses, butterflies and much more.

The portaloos were clean and there was a tap for drinking water.

5 minutes away was The Grand Union canal which I walked alongside and saw the boats moored there and a marina. It was beautiful.

I’ll definitely be going back. Thank you.

As above.

Primitive grass and gravel tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Flat.

Nearest location for a visit to care home I had to visit.

Disliked Portaloos x 2 no water in 1 & needed a good clean considering very little foot traffic (me & one other small family). Self cleaned to a degree.

Expensive for a 1 person tiny backpacking tent considering the sparce facilities

Really disliked trains every few minutes early morning, really quite loud n close.

Handy loation

Good - Did the job for one night

Primitive grass and gravel tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The positives of the camp site were how easy it was to get in and out. Didn’t need to phone anyone for the code which was good.

Disliked The toilet facilities were a portaloo in the feild, I couldn’t find any showers (didn’t look too hard and unsure if this campsite have them) overall it did the job for one night

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely and quiet field (between the passing trains) used the what three words someone else had put up to find it with ease as others had said it was hard to find (I would say make sure you load it up well before as the signal wasn’t great when trying to load close by) beautiful horses to watch in the morning over breakfast.

Disliked Only that there was no water in the porta loo so no chance to wash hands only some alcohol gel that looks like a previous person had left. And oddly website had said there were only 2 pitches available and when we arrived it was a big field and only us there!

nice clean site, canal is a 10 min walk away and worth…

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked nice clean site, canal is a 10 min walk away and worth a stroll along the canal, 25 mins from santa pod which is why I booked an stayed. lots of room between everyone. just beware if coming the location on pitch up is incorrect the site is right by the towcester road of station road junction. Tesco is 10 mins drive if need supplies and bilsworth village is close by with a small shop and pub.also a dayboat hire is only a short drive or 15 min walk away.

Disliked if a light sleeper railway is close by but this didn't bother me.
