  • Ensuite accommodation with kitchen and outdoor space
Big skies, lots of open space and a whole lot of lovely rural Lincolnshire peace… and only a couple of miles from the main roads for easy journeys to your chosen days out. Sound like a winning mix? Get yourselves along to Crowtree Glamping, a spacious and serene farm site on the banks of the river Welland about 10 minutes' drive from Spalding. This is a place where you can really switch off and soak up the countryside vibe – you’ll be surrounded by mature trees on site, with cattle grazing in the neighbouring field and plenty of walks, wildlife-spotting and other open-air activities nearby. It’s a pretty fabulous location indeed – and the accommodation is equally fabulous, catering for couples, families and groups of friends (not forgetting any accompanying dogs, who are also welcome to join the fun). Units are well spaced around the site, so you’ll have your own outdoor space to relax in – perhaps serving up drinks and snacks at your picnic table or getting a cookout going on your barbecue. All the accommodation here is nicely designed and well equipped – each one has an ensuite bathroom, a kitchen area and beds made up ready for your arrival. Close by, there’s a communal room with a pool table and comfy seating for chillout time, and the site also has a smart barrel sauna that can be hired for some more relaxation.

Local attractions

Lincolnshire’s flat landscapes make for some excellent easy walks, so bring your boots along. A good place to start is a stroll along the banks of the river Welland, perhaps as far as Springfields (an hour and a half’s walk) to explore the gardens, play crazy golf or hit the outlet shops. Springfields Adventure Land is a good option for kids, too (10 minutes' drive if you don’t fancy the walk). Being close to the coast also gives you the option of walks and wildlife-spotting at places like RSPB Frampton Marsh (35 minutes’ drive) or the fabulously untamed BPAW The Wash nature reserve (40 minutes). If you like to theme your strolls around historic buildings, aim instead for Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens, or Britain’s tallest mill Moulton Windmill (both 10 minutes). On a fine day, a water-taxi trip or hiring a boat for a trip around Spalding is a lovely way to spend some time (look out for wildlife like kingfishers along the river bank…). Of course, it’s not a bad idea to have a plan for a damp day too – perhaps Scalextric Racing (10 minutes) for a bit of action or a sweet little trip to the Bubblecar Museum (40 minutes) would fit the bill.
