  • Family-friendly Lincolnshire caravan park at Chapel St Leonards
  • Ingoldmells Beach 15 minutes’ walk; Fantasy Island 10 minutes’ drive
  • Fishing lake and well-stocked tackle shop; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Tucked into the seaside village of Chapel St Leonards, 15 minutes’ drive from Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast, Lakeland Caravan Park is a family-run and family-friendly caravan park that's somewhat removed from the busy main east-coast seaside resorts. Being a popular place, this site still gets busy during the school holidays, so if you’re after a quieter sojourn it's best to book for spring or autumn. But whichever month you choose for your break, you'll be staying on a well-drained pitch with electric hook-up, and you can use toilets, showers and washing-up facilities in the brick facilities block, which has disabled access. Dogs are welcome and can be walked on Ingoldmells Beach (15 minutes’ stroll). Having the beach nearby is excellent of course, and another one of the big draws at this site is the fishing – there's a lake within the grounds where anglers can cast out their lines daily, and weekly matches are open to all caravan site guests. There’s a very well-stocked tackle shop selling fresh bait and everything from budget rod-and-reel deals to get novices started to fishing gear from top brands. Sea fishing is also available from Ingoldmells Beach. Anything else you might need? There are shops, lots of pubs, amusement arcades and night-time entertainment all within 10 minutes’ drive of the pitches.

What customers say

Great location near beach & shops. Staff praised as friendly/helpful. On-site fishing lake/tackle shop a hit. Facilities generally clean but some find them dated/distant. Peaceful for most, though some noise reported. Bird droppings noted by some.

Liked Our tent and how close the beach is. And only the 1 man that was there that was nice who checked us in.

Disliked Everything. The pond was disgusting there was floating dead fish and the pond stunk.
There was only 2 showers for women and 2 for men which caused arguments as people didnt want to wait there turn and only one bloke of toilets and showers which was in the caravan park. Power cuts everyday. We was packed in like sardines no room for kids to run around or play near the tent so we spent more time off the site and didnt feel relaxed at all and came home a day early will not be returning. This site has potential to be amazing.

Liked Location.
Close to everything.
Pleasantly surprised as some reviews are extremely harsh about this site.
Family friendly. Relaxed feel. Hardworking staff and issues sorted quickly. Shows and toilets clean.
Had a great stay.

Disliked No wifi option that we could access as far as we were aware but not a problem.

Liked Location was closet I've ever got to the beach.
Site has a relaxed feel. Busy family and fishing enthusiasts which didn't worry us at all. Showers and toilets, although dated were clean and never any issues to use. Push button showers conserve water.
All facilities were nearby and easily accessible for us.
Near to shops, amenities, amusements, fantasy island.
Adam was helpful and worked relentlessly from morning till night. Wished us a safe onward journey.

Liked Close to beach

Disliked Missguiding and led to believe fishing included in holiday. Staff stopped us and abruptly and rudely advised had to pay extra for fishing or could not fish. Locals in area close the pond whenever they want for matches. We were there for 4 nights and 2 days it was closed 'for match' wrote on board on gate. When asked management about this. Their answer was it's our pond but we have nothing to do with the matches?????
The locals when they fish are rude, gobby and ignorant. Making out like they own the pond and telling us what we can and can't do. If someone had spoken nicely to us we may have paid and fished but I did NOT pay extra for a park with a fishing lake to be spoken to in that manner.
Our first day there noone paid for fishing and the pond was full and happy people everywhere???
We have been over the sites rules on this site and another and it clearly does NOT say about paying extra to fish on site.
One disabled toilet and no disability access for fishing or shower blocks.
The park itself was not bad. We were going to extend our stay until staff unfortunately found they had to be so rude.
Site says leisure on site....fishing and beach access. Neither with asterix on them and I didn't pay for beach access so why am I paying for fishing???
IT CLEARLY DOES NOT SAY TO PAY EXTRA ANYWHERE

Liked Large pitch

Disliked Noisy kids past 10.pm. Dogs left in awning barking while owners went out. Promised lakeside plot but because of double booking ended up on caravan park.

Liked Location is great, right next to the beach and 20 min walking distance to Chapel or Fantasy Island. Only 10 mins walk from shops and pubs.
Nice clean site and felt safe/secure.

Disliked Facilities could do with a face-lift but they were very regularly cleaned which was great!
Didn't mind wandering round to the other side for a shower but the distance from the toilets and water points was a pain, would have been very useful to have a water point and a portaloo in the camping field.
The geese were geese, naughty and noisy, but that's all part of camping next to a fishing lake!

Local attractions

Fan of bright lights and big amusements? The famed Fantasy Island theme park (10 minutes’ drive) in Skegness opens up stalls and rides when summertime hits. There’s more action over at Skegness Pier (20 minutes), including bowling and laser tag games. If you’re keener to avoid crowds and unwind on quiet sands, Sutton on Sea (20 minutes) should do the trick with its long sandy beach. Another secluded bay is Huttoft beach (15 minutes), a quiet stretch where many folk like to go surfing, swimming and fishing. Inland, take your hiking boots off to the trails of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape (20 minutes). For some wildlife watching, there are a couple of really nice spots within a short drive of the park. The first is Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (25 minutes), a seasonal habitat for waders, wildfowl and birds of prey set back along the coast. The other is Natureland Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes), a centre that rescues seal pups. Other adorable residents include alpacas, penguins, reptiles and colourful butterflies, so there should be plenty to feast your eyes on.
