Batemans Brewery Caravan Site

Liked Very good value at £19.50 per night including electric hook up. The location is nice , with large flat pitches . There is a bus stop opposite the entrance and a railway 5 mins walk away. Free wifi

Disliked Non existent customer service.
We booked via pitch up and were given a pitch no on the email and a promise that a welcome pack would be ready when we arrived .

When we did arrive there was a motorhome on our allocated pitch and no welcome pack .
I managed to find some info ( WiFi code , shower block door code ) by searching through some returned welcome packs from other campers that had been left in the wooden box.

Amongst this info was an email address to contact the site managers if you had any issues. I duly sent an email informing that we had arrived to find out pitch was taken and that we were pitching at a different number pitch and was this ok .

We had no reply back and no contact whatsoever for the three days we stayed.
Being low season and the site not being busy , it turned out not to be a problem that we weren't on the allocated pitch, but I could see it being a different story in high season.

How hard can it be to check your email?

Disliked Toilets and shower block needs more attention than it gets . Lots of black mould around the shower area. On the whole the toilet block wasn't that clean tbh . Washing up area outside needs a shelter type roof on it as it was full of leaves and debris. Went to drop the grey waste and the loo at the disposal point which was awful absolutely filthy. Started emptying grey waste and waste water started coming out the manhole lid,so I presume the septic tank was full. There was no one to report /contact about it . Didn't empty the loo.

Liked We stayed here for 3 nights for the sausage & beer festival, it was very busy most probably because the weather was like a summers day for late September, didn't enjoy queuing for around 45 minutes just to reach the bar.

Disliked The showers were awful, the pressure and hot water you could not fault, but the showers are not monitored or cleaned it's down to the previous users to tidy up, however there was only a dry mop available, the toilet roll and blue towel to dry your hands run out, the grass on the pitches area is cut but grass cutting not collected so hay like grass sticks to your shoes which is then taken into the shower area , the floor gets soaked as the mouldy shower curtains are not long enough and water splashes outside the shower tray on to the floor which has dried grass all over it. There are 4 individual unit which each has shower, toilet & hand basin which is a nice set up if kept clean, I only used the shower once on the first morning, then used our own one in our van. Out of the 4 units only 3 had showers, the 4th was removed then on our 2nd day the key code for the 3rd didn't work meaning only 2 showers & 3 loos as its not monitored and nobody to report it to.

Disliked No welcome packs in the cupboard and it was after 3pm, confirmation email had pitch number on but was already taken, no answer on the phone had to wait ages to sort out only to blame pitch up for cocking the bookings up? Pitch allocation more likely cocked up by booking regulars on and not amending the systems. Toilet block porch not swept covered in leaves and shower not cleaned all weekend.

Liked It was a quiet location, it is next to a working brewery but the noise was minimum and did not disturb our sleep (start early in a morning) or our relaxation. Toileting and showering facilities were good. You can catch a bus into Skegness or Boston, short 10 min walk to the Market Place, a range of shops including chemist, butcher, Coop, fish and chips, Chinese. A long lane to walk a dog(s).

Liked The site was easy to find and well laid out with good size pitches. The toilet and shower were in the same room making it private which is very important.

Liked Great site with a difference, full of atmosphere, historic and close to the village and transport links to travel while staying.
It's a working brewery so some noise is inevitable, however staff worked hard at keeping noise to a absolute minimum during the early part of the morning's and was always respectful.

Disliked Other campers say when contacting with a problem no one gets back to them.
Suggest a member of staff at the start of the stay introduced themselves, say hello just incase there's some questions. Did feel a bit vulnerable being disabled.
No provision for disabled, couldn't use your toilets or showers.
