What customers say
This quiet, adults-only spot gets kudos for its lovely setting, neat grounds, and calm vibe. Guests loved the clean facilities, comfy stays, and helpful owners. The fishing lake with its social cabin and gnome path are special touches. Mostly great, but a few noted off-leash dogs and lake seating needs tidying. Wi-Fi was out for one, explained on arrival.

We didn’t travel far, but felt idilic and far away.

Liked Really liked our stay at Acorn wood and would definately stay there again. We will become regulars. Felt peaceful and idilic. Very pretty and grounds very well maintained. There wernt many people there when we arrived. The park was very quiet, no road noise. Just listen to the birds and the rain. Beautiful. It became a bit noisier as the week wore on as Fri afternoon 3/4 more caravans arrived with dogs. Showers and toilets very clean. The lake area is pretty with flowers on the banks, well maintained garden area with log cabin that overlooks the lake, that fisherman can use to make themselves a cuppa whilst fishing and any of the campers can be use it too, it’s used as a social space as well, open all day and well into the evenings. Campsite had its own wifi, great idea and great addition. Overall great experience, we had a great time, felt relaxed and enjoyed our time away.
Disliked These are only minor niggles, but things we disliked. These dislikes would not put us off coming again, most of these comments are aimed at other inconsiderate campers, who arrived towards the end of our stay. There were lots of dogs present and there was spates of barking episodes. I know that can’t be helped, as it is classed as a dog friendly site, but once one dog started barking it seemed to set the others off. Then you heard all the owners shouting at their dogs to shut up!! The owners seem to settle the dogs quickly enough. Most of the dog owners were mindful of others and kept their dogs on a lead or in a little pen they made so the dog was contained. There are signs all over saying ”KEEP DOGS ON LEADS” but a couple of campers thought the rules didn’t apply to them and thought it was perfectly ok to let their dogs roam about . Which put me off going for a walk around the lake as I would’ve needed to walk past the roaming dogs.
When people with dogs are checking in/arriving I think the wardens need to remind dog owners they need to keep their dogs on leads at all times, as it’s not fair on others.
The tables and chairs need daily cleaning as there is lots of bird poo on them and also the benches, around the lake, which unfortunately meant they couldn’t be used. Not once during our 6 night stay were the tables, chairs, benches cleaned.
The toilets and showers are unisex, so you could use any of the two that were available. Many a time the men left the toilet seat up which I thought was selfish behaviour towards the other campers, especially the women. Not the campsites fault just thoughtless men!!!!.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay overhaul and pleased you would like to stay with us again in the future
Everyone on arrival is given a welcome slip which outlines dogs to be on lead and we as managers speak to everyone on arrival and it’s made quite clear about dogs also. I wish you had brought it to our attention about dogs off lead as I would have dealt with it, it’s too late now for me to do anything once you have left site. We are around most of the time and always on the phone so are contactable at all times.
Thank you for commenting how clean the facilities are and I check them through the day to make sure they are as I would like to find them myself however as you say can’t help toilet seats being left up, also I can’t help people leaving the floors soaking when there’s a dry mop to use which also happens.
Regarding seating around the lake these are done fortnightly but we will look at doing them weekly going forward if time allows.

The gnome walkway is rather special
Powered gravel campsite
Liked Lovely peaceful adults only site which is beautifully kept and tucked away in the North Lincolnshire countryside .. it’s dog friendly , a wild life haven , plenty of places around to sit rest and relax as well as take in your surroundings , fishing lake with gnome guided walkway around the waters edge , cabin with decking as well as seating and ( tea / coffee / books etc ) , little onsite shop
As you arrive you’re meet by the site manager whom along with hubby are always about ( not obtrusive though ) to simply pass the time of day and or provide assistance and help if needed .
Ours was a hard standing pitch with electric hook up as most are however there are a few grass pitches although these tend to be weather reliant so I’d check first before booking .
It’s a short safe walk into the village with local one stop shop along with decent recently refurbished pub ..
All in all we’ve just had a really lovely short stay and will be returning for a longer stay later on this year so thank you ..
Disliked Nothing ..
