  • Peaceful Lincolnshire Wolds park less than a mile from Market Rasen
  • On the Lindsey Trail for cycling, walking and riding
  • Dog-friendly site with launderette and centrally heated bathroom block
If we were fortunate enough to possess our own nag, we'd surely be cantering forth to this campsite on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds as soon as ever we could. For Walesby Woodlands Caravan Park, run by Paul and Julia in a peaceful woodland setting, is bang on the Lindsey Trail, yielding miles upon miles of trotting (and ambling, and cycling) opportunities through the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Walesby is a quiet park, used as a base by clever campers who want to explore the attractions and villages of the Wolds or delve into local countryside pursuits like fishing, golf and wildlife watching. It's less than a mile from Market Rasen for traditional shops, a farm shop, bakery, butchers, supermarket, pubs, fishing, golf and the Market Rasen Racecourse. The site is also within driving distance of Skegness and the Lincolnshire coast. The pitch price includes free hot water for the centrally heated shower and loo block. Walesby Woodlands also has a launderette, Calor gas for sale and an automatic security barrier for added safety. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please note that the owners are keen not to disturb resident wildlife so they keep light levels low by night. The toilet block is well-lit but it's a clever idea to pack a torch to find your way there.

Liked Great showers and pitch area, nice and quite and well maintained

Disliked Wasn't sure how to get out, didn't know if it was one way or not so went down what looked like a bridal path but got to the main road eventually. Wasnt clear but not really a dislike to be honest...great little place.

A nice overnight stay on our journey back from Scotland.

Liked We had a wonderful stay , arrived and check was a breeze so friendly hosts . Pitched up then settled to relax . Was a little worried as there was quite a few families with children (we normally choose adult only sites) but needn’t have worried all very well behaved and never heard anything .

Disliked Can’t really think of anything

Lovely site would book again, amazing setting, large pitches.

Liked Site was lovely and clean and Steve and his wife were very friendly and welcoming. Just a short walk from market rasen to visit pubs and shops we also walked to the races.
Coffee man and farm shop close by.

Disliked Only downside was the toilet block was closed overnight from 10pm till 8am which was a problem for us as our campervan doesn't have a toilet.

From the manager: Hi, thank you and sorry. The toilets and showers block is never locked simply because it doesn't have a lock and cannot be locked from the outside. There is only a bolt on the inside used during cleaning. Our barriers on enter and exit to the site get locked from 10pm to 8am just for a security reason. When checking in, we give a booking form where our rules are explained and the map of the site with all amenities mentioned for customers to use. Maybe these visitors had the barrier times confused with the toilet block. If any questions please do not hesitate to ask. We are here to help. Thanks

Keep going back!

Liked Nice clean toilet block, thought one of the lights wasn't working but realised that it came on at night and stayed on and others were just on sensors so when dark one light did at least stay on if the sensor wasn't activated.
Owner was very nice and explained about the local area. They kept the sight clean and tidy.
There is a short walk to the local cafe that does ice cream the children loved this and its dog friendly if you have one. The park onsite was also good for the children altho no baby swings however the main swings are low enough that if they can sit up and hold on they will be OK.
Good site will be staying here again, the mother inlaw has already rebooked to the my 6 year old in the summer.

Disliked WiFi isn't the best but works well enough. Altho there is nothing the owner can do about this he has the best he can get he needs BT to get their act together and concentrate on rolling out full fibre to rural areas first the ones who actually need it.

Local attractions

For day trips, Skegness, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes on the Lincolnshire coast can be reached in about an hour in the car and lovely Lincoln is within about 40 minutes' drive. If you prefer to stick closer to home on your own feet/wheels, Walesby Woodlands is on both the 75 miles of the Lindsey Trail and the National Cycle Trail One. The Viking Way, from the Humber Bridge in north Lincolnshire to Oakham in Rutland, also passes near the park, as does the 78-mile circular Lincolnshire Wolds Way (handily broken into daily sections of about six hours each). Lincolnshire is pretty nifty for market towns and shopping, like at Louth, Horncastle and Woodhall Spa, all well within an hour's drive; be sure and wheel back many samples from Louth's award-winning The Cheese Shop. At Woodhall Spa, have an old-fashioned evening out at Kinema in the Woods, entertaining those around the area since 1922 and with its own 18th-century organ – and organist.
