Which is the best part of Lincolnshire: the coast or the hilly scenery of the Lincolnshire Wolds? You’ll be able to research thoroughly and then decide for yourselves when you stay at Waites Farm Glamping – this family-friendly spot is in a very handy location about 15 minutes’ drive from both (and about 20 minutes’ drive from Boston). This excellent position means you’ll easily be able to get out and about while you’re here, perhaps throwing in a visit to a wildlife park, a local museum or a brewery as well as your beach days and rural walks. The folk that run this place haven’t just relied on their fab location to attract guests though – they’ve also made this site a really lovely place to stay, with spacious pitches mown into a nature-filled wild grass meadow. Pitches are well spaced around the meadow, and each one has been supplied with its own eco toilet and firepit – the latter being just the thing for a nice cosy evening looking up into the big dark skies overhead. Fresh air, family and freedom being the watchwords here, there’s also a large space set aside for playing games and other outdoor activities, plus a games room for when indoor time is called for. An honesty shop on site stocks various supplies; for other bits, head to supermarkets in Boston or Spilsby (or have your dinner in one of the area’s country pubs…)

The Neigh Neigh primitive grass tent or campervan campsite

Liked: We had such a wonderful long weekend at Waites Farm! When we arrived on Friday, we were thrilled to find that we were the only ones on the site—talk about luck! The scenery was beautiful, and since cars weren’t allowed in the field, they provided us with carts to help haul our camping gear, which was super handy.

Carol greeted us with a big smile and gave us a tour of the place, making us feel right at home. The site had nine pitches: three for tents, four fully furnished bell tents, one for campervans or tents, and one dome tent that wasn’t set up.

Each pitch had its own eco-toilet, and Carol explained how everything worked. Plus, there were two showers and washing-up facilities, so we had everything we needed! The honesty shop was a delightful surprise—well-stocked and reasonably priced. It was so convenient too, since the nearest shop was over a 10-minute drive away and likely more expensive. We found a treasure trove of books for just £1, which really reignited my kids' love for reading. In fact, we ended up buying 18 books, including a bunch from the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series!

Another highlight was the games room that my kids absolutely adored. It was filled with fun family games (all the pieces were there!) and even had a pool table. There was also a regular toilet in there, which was handy. Since cars weren’t allowed on site, I felt confident letting my children walk to and from the games room safely.

One of the boiler broke on the washing up facilities Carol and Lloyd were quick to notice and fix it .

Overall, we had a wonderfully relaxed weekend filled with family games, reading, and running around in the beautiful fields. It was a lovely escape!

Thank you for a lovely weekend away on your lovely campsite!

Local attractions

There are several great spots to choose from along the Lincolnshire coast, but a couple of the best are Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (half an hour’s drive) and the classic seaside resort of Skegness (25 minutes). In the latter, you can meet cute creatures at Natureland Seal Sanctuary, hit the amusements at the pleasure beach and take a look at marine life in the aquarium. A little further up the coast, Ingoldmells (half an hour) is another good option, with Hardy’s Animal Farm and Fantasy Island Theme Park. Closer to home, there are a couple of great attractions close by in the ARK Wildlife & Dinosaur Park and Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (both five minutes). For a dip into the area’s history, visit English Heritage - Sibsey Trader Windmill (10 minutes) and the We'll Meet Again World War II museum (20 minutes) or explore vintage transport exhibits at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (10 minutes) and The Bubblecar Museum (20 minutes). Fancy a beer after all that? Sign up for a tour and tasting at Batemans Brewery (15 minutes).
