  • Adults-only glampsite on the scenic Humber estuary
  • Half an hour's drive from Hull for museums, galleries and nights out
  • Fully licensed bar The Alpaca Arms on site
Plenty of soothing greenery, friendly alpacas to meet and no pesky kids scurrying around breaking the peace… yes please. If that sounds like a top getaway for your good and deserving self, break now for a stay at Marshlands Alpacas, an adults-only site with a fully licensed bar on site named The Alpaca Arms. A five minute-stroll from New Holland and the banks of the Humber estuary, this is a prime spot to use as a base for Lincolnshire explores, with plenty of peaceful trails nearby to follow (excellent news for long dogs walks in particular). Walk or bike by the river’s edge to soak up views of the wildlife and passing boats, or wander along one of the public footpaths or easy jaunts to the surrounding villages. For a touch of grandeur, head instead to Normanby Hall and Gardens, half an hour away, to stroll among Victorian outbuildings, spot Bambi and pals in the deer park and tour the grand old pile of bricks at its centre. If the deer aren't dear to your heart, hang out with the fluffy herd of alpacas instead. At Marshlands Alpacas, there is an alpaca feed station open on busy weekends from March to September. The station also serves fresh coffee and a tasty takeaway breakfast, made all the better by the excellently scenic views across the countryside. New Holland has a handy village shop for any other foodie bits you may need, and its train station has services to Cleethorpes and Barton On Humber.

Liked Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this campsite, for the fifth time. Everything is top spec. The owners, Julie and Gary are extremely friendly.
We took the train, from the local station, which is a short walk from the campsite and had a lovely day in Cleethorpes. Then came back to a merry evening at the Alpacas Inn.
We will certainly be returning.

Liked If I could rate this place higher I would! From faultless facilities, a gorgeous onsite pub, wonderful staff to friendly alpacas!

On arrival we were handed a menu for the weekend and information including things to do around us and everything concerning our stay here.

Julie couldn’t do enough for us and her hosting skills are second to none. The homemade food and frozen cocktail were amazing, my boyfriend says he’s coming back just for the burgers!

The toilets and shower were the cleanest I’ve ever seen on a campsite and had shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers - handy as we had forgotten ours!

The takeaway cafe, food and onsite pub (Alpaca Arms) were an incredible touch and a great atmosphere. We’re looking forward to coming again for the themed weekends!

There were no issues with booking, checking in or checking out. We are already planning on coming back with our friends so we can share more wonderful experiences on this lovely campsite ❤️

Liked Great little site half an hr up road from us. First time but certainly won't be the last. Owners were fab and couldn't be more accommodating. Made to feel very welcome. Site was clean and the alpacas were great. Very peaceful and calm. Cant comment on showers as only stayed the night. Bar was a welcomed addition. Washing up area clean and tidy. Can't wait to return.

Local attractions

Without any kids in tow, having hols full of grownup-sanctioned adventure is a cinch: head towards Grimsby (half an hour's drive) for tours and tastings at Rutlands Arms Old Mill Brewery and a stop at the taproom of the town’s newest brewery, Docks Beers. Otherwise, venture towards Hull (half an hour) for sedate turns around pleasant gardens, stately manors, museums galore and a must-do stop at The Deep aquarium. Anyone who’s after something more high-adrenaline and doesn’t mind a slightly longer drive should make the hour and 20-minute journey down the coast to Ingoldmells for a day at Fantasy Island theme park, or continue on to Skegness (an hour and 20 minutes) for stock car and banger racing at Skegness Raceway. For days in the great wide open, there’s plenty of choice: the Lincolnshire Wolds are about half an hour away for hiking, biking, riding and geocaching, or a coastal detour to Cleethorpes (35 minutes) and its seaside stretch is a top pick for beach and sandcastle days. A trip to Spurn National Nature Reserve (an hour and 15 minutes) shouldn’t be spurned either, even if it’s over an hour away – take a stroll along the sand island for slow-paced explores or sign up for a safari or wildlife-spotting boat trip to see it at its best.
