  • Quiet, rural adults-only site on the Leicestershire-Derbyshire border
  • Donington Park Circuit and the Cloud Trail both five minutes’ drive
  • Countryside views; 10 minutes’ walk from the village pub
Liking the sound of direct access to the National Forest, with its miles of scenic forest tracks for walking and cycling? How about adding in views of Derbyshire’s Priory Church of St Mary and St Hardulph atop Breedon Hill? Camping without any kids? If you’ve answered “yes” to all three questions, then you should be heading for Barley Fields Holidays on the Leicestershire-Derbyshire border. This peaceful adults-only site also has stunning views of the Vale of Belvoir to the east and is a 45-minute drive from the edge of the Peak District National Park. And just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, you’ll be pleased to learn that your dogs can join you, the site has modern showers and loos, and – although barbecues are allowed on site – you’re only 10 minutes’ stroll from a popular Breedon on the Hill pub that serves homecooked food. So… on arrival, get set up and… just chill. Life will take care of itself. Sit back, relax, watch the horses in neighbouring fields and see if you can spot/hear any of the following: cuckoos calling in late spring, swallows arriving on their early summer stop-overs and birds of prey circling overhead. And on clear evenings, you’ll be sure to bag a truly spectacular sunset. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

What customers say

This adults-only site earns praise for its peaceful vibe, spotless new facilities with hot showers, and roomy, level pitches. Guests love the location for walks and pubs, plus the friendly staff. While overwhelmingly positive, some mention a lack of sinks in a few toilet stalls and occasional airport noise. They suggest better RV waste options and more shower hooks.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Friendly site with good clean facilities in a great location for walks, village pubs and Calke Abbey. The shop/post office in the village of Breedon has long opening hours and is only a 10-minute walk. Free WiFi is a nice plus.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Excellent communication before hand. Ideal location for attending Donington Park! Layout of the site felt spacious but created quite a friendly atmosphere. Facilities were spotless and well maintained. Peaceful site despite being close to East Midlands Airport. Great size site, bigger than the certified site we normally go for but not too big either.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Very clean facilities that are being added to. New addition was a warm dog shower.Simple procedure to get onto the site. Other reviews have said about the toilets not having a sink and only hand sanitiser. Most sites don’t have a sink in the toilet you have to come out to wash your hands which is what you do here. You have the added protection of being able to sanitise your hands though before opening the door. Airplanes could be heard yes but this was not annoying in anyway. Overall one of the best sites we have stayed on as it ticked all the boxes we need. Would definitely return.
