Family camping holidays should be all about relaxing, and you can do just that at Tyn-y-Cae Meadow Camping, a pop-up site set between the Shropshire Hills National Landscape and the Black Mountains in rural Herefordshire. This is a place where you can detox from technology and potter around doing not very much at all. Should you wish to get out exploring your surroundings, however, there are ancient sites, National Trust houses and a petting farm to keep you all busy too, as well as lots of walking (great for any accompanying dogs) and cycling direct from the site – which is right next to National Cycle Route 44 – and fishing in Tillington (20 minutes’ drive). Leominster (10 minutes) has supermarkets and takeaways and there are good restaurants and traditional pubs in lively Hereford (half an hour). If you’d rather stay closer to home, it's handy that the local village of Shobdon (five minutes) has shops, a tearoom and café. The pitches are in a spacious meadow with lots of room for all, so you won’t be on top of your neighbours. The owners are on site most of the time, and can answer any questions to make your stay easier – just please be aware there are no showers at the site, and do remember to pack torches for after dark.
