  • Gloucestershire farm site with a farmstand selling seasonal produce
  • Near the Cotswold Way and other walks; 50 minutes' drive to Bristol
  • Chickens, duck, pigs and sheep on site; walk to the village pub
Surrounded by sloping countryside and quiet farmland, Farwood Farm is one of those rural spots where the views are simply splendid from dawn through to dark. Out in the gorgeous Gloucestershire countryside about five minutes’ drive from Nailsworth, this site is part of a working smallholding where owners Kim and Mark are raising sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks as well as growing fruit and vegetables for self-sufficiency. They also have a farmstand on site where guests can get their hands on eggs, fresh meat (both lamb and pork products) and seasonal produce. Many of the animals roam free at this site, so don’t be surprised if you come across the odd sheep or two nibbling their way around the pitch area. After all, you’ll be staying on pitches mown into the long grass, with the rest left more natural to provide space for wildlife (and hungry sheep). The emphasis at this site is on enjoying the rural peace, views and fresh air, so facilities have been kept on the simple side. That said, you’ll have access to all the essentials: portable toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a wifi connection are all on hand. There’s also a barbecue, a picnic table and a communal fridge-freezer – and you’re welcome to bring your own barbecue as well. For meals out, there’s a pub 15 minutes’ walk away in Horsley and more options in Nailsworth. Heading out, you may like to take a walk on the nearby Cotswold Way, go horse riding or mountain biking, or mix up your countryside time with trips to Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath.

Liked Very beautiful spot, quiet away from the road. Mark and Kim were so lovely, super chilled and very helpful. Got some lovely hogget from their small holding that we had for dinner on return home which was really special. Well definitely be going back to stay again!

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by owners Kim and Mark, both of which our 4 year old son befriended instantly!

We have a large tent so it was lovely to have the opportunity to pitch wherever takes your fancy without size restrictions.
Yes the property is on quite a slope, however there are plenty of options available you just need to look around.

The tyre swing was a big hit with all the kids that were staying, lovely to see children all joining in together.

The barn is what it says, a barn. Please don’t camp here if you’re expecting pristine gleaming tiled floors throughout! This is a working small holding and with that comes a bit of chicken poop and dust! If this offends your eyes then please don’t insult Kim and Mark by going!

The kitchen area, toilet and shower were all beautifully clean. These are located in the barn so depending on where you choose to pitch just bear in mind it can be a bit of a walk to the loo (or just do as we did and bring a camping toilet and empty when you get home).

There were lots of extra touches you wouldn’t find on many sites - proper mugs and glasses to use in the kitchen, kettle, toaster, microwave, use of fridge and freezer, bottled water (if you don’t like the idea of fresh spring water from the tap), bread, butter, milk, jam, tea, coffee, sugar. Also, clean spare towels in the shower, umbrellas to borrow, tennis rackets, balls and other various bits and pieces. Fire pits are available to hire for your stay for a very low fee, this got delivered to our pitch once we had decided where we were going.

You can also buy their own reared meats such as sausages, bacon, lamb chops, gammon steaks, freshly laid eggs and fresh vegetables depending on what is in season and ready to harvest. They’re all very reasonably priced and delicious!

We had 30c+ whilst staying, the barn remained the coolest place throughout so a little wait for the shower was welcomed!

There were opportunities for Teddy to help feed the animals, fill up water buckets, hunt for chicken eggs every day. He was in heaven here. As we were driving away to leave he asked me if we could come back to his cool farm again soon. That for me is all the recommendation I need.

To Mark and Kim, thank you for making our little adventure extra special for Teddy, he will remember this trip full of very special moments that you had a hand in. We will indeed be back as soon as we can as there is something magical about this place that touches the soul. Xxx

Disliked Having to come home!

Liked Great little site, the kids particularly loved getting to help feed the animals. Having the shared fridge and freezer in the barn was a real bonus as it was really hot when we were there. Kim and Mark were great hosts, really accommodating.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked This was the most peaceful camp site I have ever visited. They only allow for ten plots across 3 fields which meant that you always had uninterrupted views of the Cotswolds.
The site also provided you with a clean toilet, shower and kitchen area including fridge/freezer as well as the option to buy their local produce- couldn’t ask for more !
