What customers say

This well-kept campground gets praise for friendly staff, clean amenities, and a great Cotswolds location. Pitches are spacious. Downsides include road noise, sloped sites, limited WiFi, and a need for more restrooms.

Primitive grass campsite (sloping)

Liked Lovely site and friendly staff. The amenities were the loveliest I’ve experienced camping. Shower is free, there were separate cubicals with sinks in and even a radio playing.

Disliked Our tent pitch was on a bed of rocks which made for a difficult tent pitch up. Road was noisy but didn’t affect sleep.

Primitive grass campsite (sloping)

Liked Very well organised - the camp has everything that you may need (toilets, shower, water, WiFi and more). The space you are given is very generous and you have enough between the others.

Disliked Very loud road noise from the cars all day and night and we could hear it from our tent. Hopefully those in caravans were not so affected. Some of the pitches were on slopes but luckily ours wasn’t.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Location
Clean toilet and shower facilities
Friendly staff

Disliked Although pitch was level ours was placed at top of a hill
(partner is waiting for knee op - toilet and shower block at bottom of hill - so struggled a little)

Primitive grass campsite (sloping)

Liked Lovely park with very clean facilities all within a good distance. Park was spacious with 2 dogs areas and plenty of dog bins around. The people on the site were friendly and helpful.

Disliked The nearby A road was exceptionally loud, it almost echoed even more through the night and I didn’t find it quietened down at all either (although saying this, I would be happy to return, just with some earbuds). We stayed on the “sloped” pitch and although it does state it’s sloped , I didn’t quite expect so much. It wasn’t too bad except we did have to re organise the tent and bed pattern as I rolled off the bed multiple times whilst sleeping. So just bear in mind when pitching and sorting your tent/bed situation.

Local attractions

With Cheltenham racecourse a mere 30 minutes’ drive away, this site is a prime pick for horsey types – but if the gee-gees don’t have the family galloping for joy, there are other four-legged, fleet and feathered options at the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, also half an hour from base. If the Cotswold Gardens grow enthusiasm for stately houses and grand designs, there’s plenty else hereabouts to entice: Chavenage House, Berkeley Castle, Bowood House, Sudeley Castle, Newark Park and Dyrham Park are all within an hour for old piles, and Westonbirt Arboretum and the gardens at Highgrove (Charlie and Camilla’s royal digs) are definitely worth a turn half an hour away. For more urban explores, start 15 minutes from the site in the scenic village of Bibury to have a poke around the Chedworth Roman Villa, travel on to Bourton-on-the-Water (20 minutes) for Birdland, a maze, a motoring museum and a model village, then take things up a notch in Cirencester, where there are Roman remains, museums, markets, parks and a manor house all waiting for visitors. Keep things soothingly low-key with a spin on the Swindon and Cricklade steam railway, 25 minutes away, or get a bit more active with watersports, paintball, fishing and horse riding at Cotswold Water Park or an adrenaline-fuelled day at the Gloucestershire Rally School, both within 20 minutes.
