  • Family-run Derbyshire site with simple facilities; dogs welcome
  • Peak District National Park 15 minutes' drive; 25 mins to Chatsworth
  • Spacious sheltered grass pitches a mile from Clay Cross
The pretty Derbyshire countryside is always an excellent choice for an outdoor break – especially when your location is within easy reach of the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park. And such is the setting of Press Brook Park, a family-run site about a mile from the town of Clay Cross. This is an attractive site in itself, with lots of green space in its tree-lined grass pitching field tucked away in a quiet rural spot. It’s a welcoming space for families, couples, walkers and dog owners, and for wildlife too – you may be lucky enough to spot the local pheasant family pottering about or see a heron on its way to a nearby pond. But it’s getting out and about to explore that’s the real draw here – the edge of the Peak District National Park is about 15 minutes’ drive away, and you’ll also be within easy reach of popular trails like the Monsal Trail and Five Pits Trail. And there are plenty of top attractions to throw into the mix too – Chatsworth House, the Heights of Abraham cable car and Matlock Farm Park are all within half an hour’s drive. However you choose to fill your days, you’ll be coming back to a nicely spacious site with just the essential facilities for a comfortable break – you’ll have access to smart portable toilets, a chemical disposal point and a washing-up area but please note there are no showers available. Barbecues are permitted, and you should be able to find all the supplies you need in the shops of Clay Cross (which also has pubs and restaurants for when you fancy a meal out).
