  • Luxury accommodation on a sheep farm in Peak District National Park
  • High Peak Trail 15 minutes’ drive; Chatsworth House 25 minutes
  • On-site souvenir and food store; wildflower meadows; dogs welcome
A family- (and dog-) friendly site a 15-minute drive from Bakewell and on the southern fringes of Peak District National Park, White Peak Glamping is part of a sustainable farm that breeds rare and heritage sheep. Depending on the time of year, visitors might witness lambs being born or shearing sessions. Accommodations at this glamping retreat sit on a meadow covered in grasses and colourful wildflowers that attract bees, butterflies and other small wildlife. Then there are the splendid views, which reach as far as distant hills and dales. Facilities are basic, but the owners have a deal with the neighbouring site, which has toilets (including step-free wide-entrance cubicles for disabled guests), hot-water showers and dishwashing stations. You’re also welcome to use their e-car charging points. There’s a store on site selling wool-themed products and souvenirs (from raw fleeces to greeting cards and framed posters of the most photogenic resident animals) and a small food shop. That’s in addition to a village store about five minutes’ drive away and the shops in Bakewell, which also has several restaurants. If you fancy a tipple, you don’t have to reach for the car keys at all, as the nearest pub is in the village of Biggin, just over a mile away (about 25 minutes on foot).
