  • Rural family-run site on a farm in the Peak District National Park
  • A 10-minute drive from Thor's Cave; 25 minutes to Buxton and Bakewell
  • Dog-walking area on site
There's a warm welcome all around at Hartington Hills, a farm site with helpful, friendly owners on hand. This family-run site is just under two miles from the Derbyshire village of Hartington, where there are several pubs and a few places to grab coffee. The farm is in the Peak District National Park, so it's in an excellent spot for those who want to set out on walking or cycling trails; cast your gaze a little wider and you can also easily hit stately homes, museums, activity centres and caves within half an hour’s drive. Buxton and Bakewell are both 25 minutes' drive away, and it may not have escaped the kids’ notice that the Alton Towers theme park just happens to be about half an hour's drive away… The site’s facilities include a launderette and modern bathrooms with underfloor heating, hot showers and a large wetroom for guests with reduced mobility or families hosing down wriggly kids. There is also a dedicated space for canines to let off steam.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked This site is stunning!
The views were to die for, the toilets and showers are immaculate and modern. There’s a shop on site for food and drinks, snacks, ice creams etc.

Ideal for local walks around the peaks which is what we wanted. WiFi on site was handy!

The pitch was flat with electric and water supply, far enough apart for privacy.

There’s a field for dogs to run on and some gorgeous Shetland ponies to see on site.
We will be returning very soon

Disliked That we only stayed 2 days, would definitely stay a week next time!

Barnsley Ben and Dani will be back soon Sophie 🫶🏻

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked This site is excellent with spacious pitches (we were on a fully serviced hardsranding campervan pitch with awning), the grounds are very well kept and spotless, a fantastic shower/toilet block with waterfall showers and loads of hot water, on site shop, indoor washing up room, free Wi-Fi and a perfect small field for off lead walking for our old dog. Stunning location. Couldn't fault a thing and we will definitely come back.

Disliked Nothing at all to dislike.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked This campsite has it all! It is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is located near lots of Peak District landmarks. We loved exploring all of the picturesque villages nearby. It is peaceful and exceptionally well maintained. The facilities were some of cleanest we have experienced and the toilets smelt fantastic! The staff we met were lovely. They have a little dog walking field and four little ponies. You can tell that a lot of love and care get put into the campsite. We loved it so much we extended our holiday and stayed an extra night. We will definitely be back!

From the manager: Thanks so much Judith, we're so glad you loved it here

Local attractions

There are walks galore to be had around the pretty Peak District National Park – some popular picks nearby include meandering along the Manifold Valley Trail from Hulme End, 15 minutes away on foot, or trots along the Tissington Trail, which starts 10 minutes away. See the world from above by crossing the treetop trails at Go Ape, 25 minutes away, or from even further above with a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car, half an hour away. Keeping your feet firmly on the ground, there are smart stately homes to explore at Haddon Hall, half an hour away, Sudbury Hall (home to the National Trust Museum of Childhood), 40 minutes away, and the excellent Chatsworth Estate, half an hour away. If you’re up for riding hair-raising rollercoasters, it’s half an hour's drive to Alton Towers theme park; for a more relaxing ride, check out the steam trains at Churnet Valley Railway, 20 minutes away.
