  • Premium family-run site on a farm in the Peak District National Park
  • Far-reaching views 25 minutes' drive from Buxton and Bakewell
  • Friendly staff; cosy, dog-friendly country pub 10 minutes' walk
There's a warm welcome all around at Hartington Hills, a farm site with helpful, friendly owners on hand. This family-run site is just under two miles from the Derbyshire village of Hartington, where there are several pubs and a few places to grab coffee. The farm is in the Peak District National Park, so it's in an excellent spot for those who want to set out on walking or cycling trails; cast your gaze a little wider and you can also easily hit stately homes, museums, activity centres and caves within half an hour’s drive. Buxton and Bakewell are both 25 minutes' drive away, and it may not have escaped the kids’ notice that the Alton Towers theme park just happens to be about half an hour's drive away… The site’s facilities include a launderette and modern bathrooms with underfloor heating, hot showers and a large wetroom for guests with reduced mobility or families hosing down wriggly kids. There is also a dedicated space for canines to let off steam.

What customers say

This well-maintained park offers spacious, full-service sites and exceptional, spotless restrooms. Guests rave about friendly staff, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful country walks. A small shop is handy. While most stays were perfect, a few noted occasional Wi-Fi glitches and slightly sloped sites. Highly recommended, with many planning return visits.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Super spacious pitches and really clean facilities. The showers were amazing – proper rainfall showers, heated floors, and the whole place smelled really fresh. The wash house was spotless too. There’s a washer and dryer available (they’re metered though, so make sure you bring a few coins).

The bins are placed right in the middle of the site, so they’re easy to get to no matter where you’re pitched. They also had a few ponies at the entrance which was a really nice touch – you can pet them if you ask for permission.

Campfires are allowed as long as you rent the fire pit from them (£10 for the whole stay) and logs are £6 a bag. They’ve also got electric car chargers right at the entrance, which is really handy.

I was also arriving quite late so I knew I wouldn’t make it to reception before it closed. I gave them a quick call and without any hassle at all the lady on the phone said not to worry and that she’d leave my welcome pack in the wash house for me. She even wished us a safe journey which was really nice and honestly took a lot of stress away because we were worried we wouldn’t know what to do when we arrived.

Reception also doubles up as a little shop, which is great just in case you forgot to pack anything.

It’s only about a 13-minute drive to Thor’s Cave as well, which is an amazing hike and definitely worth checking out.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked We stayed at Hartington Hills for three nights in March and had a fantastic break. The site is in a beautiful, peaceful part of the Peak District with impressive scenery in all dire ctions. It's really well laid out with generous pitches; we had a fully serviced pitch for our campervan which was brilliant, no trips back and forth for water!
The facilities were excellent. The toilets, showers and washing-up room were spotless and wonderfully warm, which was very welcome in early March.
The wardens truly make this site special. Beck gave us such a friendly welcome on arrival and it’s clear how much care they put into keeping everything running smoothly and looking immaculate. They were always happy to chat and help.
There’s also a well-stocked little shop with fresh eggs and all the essentials.
Hartington village is just up the road. Well worth a trip for the authentic country village feel. Complete with Village Store and the Cheese Shop
We got some lovely gifts in Country Stores too.
Two tips: Firstly, take chocks, theres a gentle slope on site. Secondly, have a few £1 coins handy if you plan to use the washing machine or dryer (although the wardens can help with change if you forget, as we did!).
We loved our stay and will definitely be returning.

Liked Excellent site, really good facilities. Shower and toilets were immaculate and always lovely and warm. Lovely spacious pitches, great little shop on site and not too far to walk to the nearest pub.

Disliked Only quibble is that the showers were too hot and no temp control.
