  • Well-maintained site on a farm in the Peak District National Park
  • Walking distance to the Tissington Trail, Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud
  • Dog-friendly pitches; 20 minutes’ walk to the local pub
When the scenery is this spectacular, you don’t need to add many extra attractions to create a great little place to stay. That’s the (very sensible) approach at Hollington End Farm, a working farm surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Peak District National Park. The owners here have chosen to keep things simple for that true feeling of being immersed in these fabulous Derbyshire surroundings. There are no guest toilets or showers so you’ll need to be self-contained on the bathroom front, but you’ll have access to a chemical disposal point. Pitches are in a part-sloping field with plenty of space for awnings, barbecues and camping chairs, so get yourselves set up how you like and then put your feet up to admire the splendid views. Need some barbecue supplies? The town of Ashbourne (10 minutes’ drive away) is a good place to find shops of all sorts, along with a few places to eat. If you’re more in the mood for a pub dinner, take a 20-minute walk across the farm’s fields to the pub in Thorpe. Heading the other way, a 20-minute stroll gets you to Tissington for a tea room overlooking the village duck pond. Keen to stretch your legs a bit more? A public footpath crossing the site takes you out onto endless miles of trails through the stunning scenery, including routes to Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale. And there’s good news for any hopeful wagging tails out there too – this site welcomes dogs, so they’ll be welcome to join you for a scenic stay and a walk or two.

What customers say

This quiet, friendly, well-kept farm site offers beautiful scenery & great access for walks/bikes. Owners are very helpful. Basic (no WCs/showers), but good value. Some sloped pitches; blocks recommended. Near pub & Tissington Trail/Dovedale.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Fabulous little place, Steph and Matt were really welcoming and gave us lots of information regarding the local area. We had one of the hardstanding pitches (take your pick when you arrive) which didnt take much levelling, the pitches on the slopes looked a bit trickier but didnt seem to deter even the biggest of caravans. Nice and peaceful with beautiful scenery - yes there's road noise to a certain extent but who doesnt love the rumble of a tractor now and then. We had a wander to the local pub which they told us served meat reared on the farm, we didnt eat but the meals looked lovely (I was quite envious!) We also took the longer route round along the trail into Tissington but there was a footpath acoss the field directly outside the site. We will be back for sure - maybe in winter to attend a concert at the the nearby 'Pipes in the Peaks' - google it!

Liked Location was excellent for walking with a good pub nearby The Old Dog. Very friendly site owners. If you get a chance to buy their meat products then do so. The fillet steak was absolutely amazing.

Disliked Pitches are a little bit on the slope but nothing that can’t be managed with levelling blocks.

Local attractions

Ashbourne (10 minutes’ drive) is more than just a handy place for shops – it’s also a lovely place for a wander, with heritage buildings, cobbled streets and a Thursday market. It’s also the starting point for the 13-mile Tissington Trail, a traffic-free route for walkers and cyclists; bikes can be hired locally. Delving further into the Peak District National Park might take you to places like Dovedale (five minutes), Thor’s Cave (15 minutes) and Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow (15 minutes) or to popular towns like Buxton and Bakewell (both 25 minutes). Haddon Hall (25 minutes) and Chatsworth House (half an hour) both make excellent outings if you like to explore grand historic buildings. Just outside the national park’s boundaries, the cable car at Heights of Abraham (half an hour) is a great way to see some of the scenery from above. If that’s not quite enough of a thrill, try a day on the rollercoasters of Alton Towers (25 minutes) – or the rides of Gulliver’s Kingdom (25 minutes) if you’ve got smaller kids.
